“Eating out" : between the exotic and the everyday

Resumo: The growing acquisition of the eating out habit at the big cities in the last decades, have been produced great transformations in the eating practices, fact which was central in my master degree work and have been oriented my interests at this moment. This text shows superficially the opposition between an order dictated by commercial logic and another one by ideas and representations at restaurants in Sao Paulo, city which is also knew as a gastronomic capital. So my interest is discussing the idea of cultural diversity appropriated by the city and it influence in food choices. I try to show how these aspects are intermingled in levels represented by the food, “eating out” and restaurants.

I try to show how these aspects are intermingled in levels represented by the food, “eating out” and restaurants.A crescente aquisição do hábito de “comer fora” no cotidiano da vida dos moradores dos centros urbanos, sobretudo nas últimas décadas, tem produzido modificações nas práticas alimentares, tema presente em minha pesquisa de mestrado e novamente abordado no trabalho atual em andamento. Tendo analisado o diálogo entre uma lógica comercial e uma lógica “nativa” presente no consumo alimentar, os dados atualmente analisados têm revelado extrema densidade e um vasto entrelaçamento entre dimensões e, desse modo, proponho neste texto analisar diversidade cultural e gastronomia presentes no epíteto da cidade de São Paulo, capital gastronômica, e sua influência nas escolhas alimentares, especialmente focalizando o hábito de tomar refeições fora de casa como atividade de lazer e descontração.A crescente aquisição do hábito de “comer fora” no cotidiano da vida dos moradores dos centros urbanos, sobretudo nas últimas décadas, tem produzido modificações nas práticas alimentares, tema presente em minha pesquisa de mestrado e novamente abordado no trabalho atual em andamento.
