When the essential becomes visible: reflections on pandemic of Covid19 in Argentina

Summary: The text shares provisional reflections about the impact of COVID19 pandemic in Argentina. It describes sanitary and social protection measures adopted by the national government, and their linkages with the sanitary system response capacity. Although Argentina counts with a public health sector, that is universal and free, this sector drags serious problems of fragmentation and accessibility which magnify in front of this emergency. The text proposes the “etcetera of care” idea, to make visible the micropolitical character of the health work and the relevant role of women in epidemic context. Also, the paper analyzes the pandemic unequal scope among the most vulnerable people.

Se describen medidas sanitarias y de protección social adoptadas por el gobierno nacional y sus vinculaciones con la capacidad de respuesta del sistema sanitario. Si bien Argentina cuenta con un sector público de salud de carácter universal y gratuito, el mismo arrastra serios problemas de fragmentación y accesibilidad que se magnifican frente a la emergencia. Se propone la idea de “etcétera del cuidado” para visibilizar el carácter micropolítico del trabajo en salud y el relevante papel de las mujeres en contextos epidémicos. Asi mismo se analiza el alcance desigual de la pandemia entre los más vulnerables.    O texto compartilha reflexões provisórias sobre o impacto da pandemia de COVID19 na Argentina. Descrevem-se as medidas de saúde e proteção social adotadas pelo governo nacional e suas vinculações com a capacidade de resposta do sistema de saúde. Embora a Argentina possua um setor de saúde pública universal e gratuito, este apresenta sérios problemas de fragmentação e acessibilidade que se magnificam diante da emergência. Propõe-se a ideia de "etecetera do cuidado" para tornar visível o caráter micropolítico do trabalho em saúde e o papel relevante das mulheres em contextos epidêmicos.
