Resumo: The Army General Staff School was created in 1905, and its main function was provide Brazilian Army officers to a higher military education that qualified them to serve on the General Staff of the Army. The main objective of this article is to understand the changes that occurred in the Brazilian military education, in general, and in the Army Staff School, specifically, during the brief but intense administration of General Góes Monteiro in the Minister of War. between 1934 and 1935. For this purpose, official documents (teaching regulations, Army Ministry of War reports and ), as well as memoirs and memorialistic narratives of former students of the General Staff School were consulted. The study on the Army General Staff School provides an in-depth understanding of the formation of the official student of the Brazilian Army, and the relations between the military and civilians in the first decades of the twentieth century.

El objetivo principal de este artículo es comprender los cambios que ocurrieron en la educación militar brasileña, en general, y en la Escuela del Estado Mayor del Ejército, específicamente, durante la breve pero intensa administración del general Góes Monteiro en el Ministro de Guerra. entre 1934 y 1935. Para este propósito, se consultaron documentos oficiales (reglamentos de enseñanza, informes del Ministerio de Guerra del Ejército y de la Jefe de Estado Mayor del Ejército), así como memorias y relatos conmemorativos de antiguos alumnos de la Escuela del Estado Mayor. El estudio del Escuela del Estado Mayor proporciona una comprensión profunda de la formación del oficial estudiantil del ejército brasileño y las relaciones establecidas entre militares y civiles en las primeras décadas del siglo XX.A Escola de Estado-Maior (EEM) foi criada em 1905, e tinha como principal objetivo fornecer aos oficiais do Exército Brasileiro uma instrução militar superior que os habilitasse para exercer funções no Estado-Maior do Exército. O presente artigo tem como principal objetivo compreender as mudanças ocorridas na educação militar brasileira, de forma geral, e na Escola de Estado-Maior do Exército, de forma específica, durante a breve, mas intensa, gestão do General Góes Monteiro no Ministro da Guerra entre 1934 e 1935. Para tanto, foram consultados documentos oficiais (regulamentos de ensino, relatórios do ministério da guerra e da chefia do Estado-Maior do Exército), além de memórias e relatos memorialísticos de ex-alunos da Escola de Estado-Maior.
