Resumo: | The paper has as its main objective to show Manoel Bomfim’s reflection as well as to define one of his fundamental lines of development. At the research of the complex of his handiwork we tried to explore the elemens which would configurate the construction of his problematic, which means the way through which Manoel Bomfim selected, formulated and solved the thing that was taken by him as his “issue”. So, we present here the issue of the “education as a national redemption”, around which it is organized not only the thought but also the handiwork and the politic-intelctual act of Manoel Bomfim at the social context of the First Republic. The emphasis on education whould have allowed him to keep away from the biological “paradigm”, which was predominant at that period, and leading him to the realization of a historical-cultural reflexion, a breakthrough in therms of the remission possibilites of the “Brazilian delay” which would happen through education, as so as the country’s insertion at the “Modernity” progress. |

Al investigar su obra en su conjunto, buscamos explorar los elementos que configurarían la construcción de su problema, es decir, las formas en que Bomfim seleccionó, formuló y resolvió lo que tomó como su “problema”. En este sentido, presentamos el problema de la “educación como redención nacional” en torno al cual se organiza la reflexión, el trabajo y el trabajo político-intelectual de Manoel Bomfim en el contexto social de la Primera República. Este énfasis en la educación habría permitido al autor alejarse del “paradigma” biológico dominante en ese momento para realizar una reflexión histórico-cultural relativamente pionera sobre las posibilidades de remisión del “atraso brasileño” y por ende de la propia inserción del país en el progreso de la “modernidad” burguesa a través de la educación.O artigo objetiva expor a matéria da reflexão de Manoel Bomfim e definir uma das suas linhas fundamentais de desenvolvimento. Na pesquisa do conjunto da sua obra procuramos explorar os elementos que configurariam a construção da sua problemática, isto é, as formas pelas quais Bomfim selecionou, formulou e resolveu aquilo que tomou como seu “problema”. Apresentamos, nesse sentido, a problemática da “educação como redenção nacional” em torno da qual se organizam a reflexão, a obra e a própria atuação políticointelectual de Manoel Bomfim no contexto social da Primeira República.
