Resumo: The purpose of this article is to bring considerations about art in the city, taking as a study point the affective territory by the sea of Rio Vermelho, neighborhood of Salvador, where several cultural meetings take place. Considering the sacred and profane relationship present on February 2, Iemanjá Day, and its imaginary and symbolic representation in the collective unconscious for the Bahian people, it is sought, through a qualitative research and field study carried out through performance, analyze how art manifests itself as a "middle way", as well as perceive the relationships between the city, art and the subject. Art by the sea of the Red River reveals the relationships of the individual who is challenged by art, influenced by the territorial identity of the space and its narratives that configure a representation for the neighborhood in festive times. It is in this perspective, that performance is understood here as a work of art capable of capturing the look of what it is to see and be seen. It is noted, therefore, that through performance we can affirm that art is the middle way between territory and territorialities, and also an oxygenating element of reality through different perspectives of views that are constituted in different ways.

Universidade Estadual de Campinas2021-11-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTextoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/rua/article/view/866774210.20396/rua.v27i2.8667742RUA; Vol. 27 No. 2 (2021): nov; 387-410RUA; v. 27 n. 2 (2021): nov; 387-4102179-99111413-2109reponame:Rua (Campinas.
