Resumo: A New University is a proposal for academic reformulation at the higher level, inspired by “anisian” ideas and worldwide reforms. It currently integrates academic structures of some Brazilian public universities, through the offer of interdisciplinary courses of general education, for example. Therefore, this article brings a theoretical survey about the world panorama regarding the reformulations, which marked this institution - the university - and the approach at national level. From the temporal explanation, the emergence of the New University is understood and it ensures that the academic structure of the Federal University of Southern Bahia, since its origin, is shaped by this philosophy, since it implements as one of its mechanisms the training in cycles and interdisciplinarity.

Integra, actualmente, estructuras académicas de algunas universidades públicas brasileñas, atraves de las ofertas de cursos interdisciplinares de formación general, por ejemplo. Así, este artigo trae un recorrido teórico al panorama mundial en relación a las reformulaciones que marcaron a esta institución – la universidad – y también el abordaje en alcance nacional.  A partir de la explicación temporal se entiende el surgimiento de la Universidad Nueva y asegurarse de que la estructura académica en la Universidad Federal del Sur de Bahía, desde su origen, se configura en esta filosofía, ya que implementa como uno de sus mecanismos la formación en ciclos y la interdisciplinariedad.A Universidade Nova trata-se de uma proposta de reformulação acadêmica do nível superior inspirada nas ideias “anisianas” e reformas de amplitude mundial. Integra, atualmente, estruturas acadêmicas de algumas universidades públicas brasileiras, através da oferta de cursos interdisciplinares de formação geral, por exemplo.  Assim, este artigo traz um levantamento teórico quanto ao panorama mundial no que se diz respeito às reformulações que marcaram esta instituição – a universidade – e também a abordagem em âmbito nacional.
