This article focuses on a research developed to map the main characteristics of existing Academies of Intellectual Property which are linked to the Global Network on Intellectual Property Academies – (GNIPA), examining their organizational structure, mission, activities and achieved results. The creation of IP Academies happens in a context in which intellectual property and innovation are recognized as key elements for economic competitiveness. The present paper should offer relevant information to support, among other things: the strengthening of technical cooperation among the referred Academies; a better access to existing specialized publications; and the establishment of future training programs and research initiatives in the field of intellectual property.
