Resumo: | The article focuses on the production of knowledge-power relationships within the scope of prenatal care in a Basic Health Unit (UBS) whose focus is health focused on prenatal care, located in a municipality in southern Brazil. It seeks to analyze, through the biopolitical theoretical framework (Michel Foucault), how the control of the bodies of pregnant women occurs through the imposition of authorized/authoritarian knowledge on the process of pregnancy and childbirth, which implies the imposition of power through trivializing the cesarean operation procedure. Therefore, it is asked about how different forms of control are exercised over female bodies in the scope of prenatal care, seeking to highlight the biopolitical character of these interventions and analyzing how these bodies react to them. From a qualitative study, carried out in the referred UBS, through semi-structured interviews with pregnant women, it is analyzed what are the biopolitical devices triggered during the assistance, and how the subjectivations of pregnant women in relation to these devices take place. |
