Micro and small companies have a primary role in the Brazilian economy, generate capital, foster jobs, and they need efficient management, not only opening a business, but also looking for strategies and means for it to continue in the market. Having a conscious management that contributes to their growth and minimizes losses is essential for the success and stability of these companies in the market. With the general objective, knowing the benefits of knowledge about administration can provide micro and small companies. The methodology used for this study was bibliographical research, where, through books, theses, articles, monographs, an explanation was sought about the importance of administrative knowledge for micro and small businesses. Concluding that the role of this professional for these companies has a relevant role, micro and small companies have a prominent role in the national economy, and they need to be managed efficiently and guided by the legality and study for such actions
