Resumo: This study aimed to analyze samples of Matricaria Chamomilla L sold in open markets, chests and herbal stores in the municipality of Campina Grande-PB, based on the legislation of RDC 10/2010 and Brazilian Pharmacopoeia (2019). It is an exploratory study, in which six samples acquired in the central region of the city were identified in groups according to their place of acquisition, then they were weighed and distributed on paper to separate the strange material after the samples were weighed again and calculated the percentage in relation to the initial weight. Posteriorly, the packaging and labeling conditions were analyzed according to the current legislation on the subject. With the observations, it was possible to verify that all packages were outside the standards of RDC 10/10, only two of the six samples had a seal sealing the package and only one sample has part of the recommended labeling, while the rest had no labels or leaflets. After analysis it was observed that the samples of herbalist 1 (1.1%), open market 2 (1.2%), chest 1 (1.1%) and chest 2 (1.1%) were within the recommended limit (5%), while the other samples analyzed did not present any contamination component. It was concluded that when evaluating the compliance with the legislation, it is possible to notice carelessness both in the presence of strange materials and in inappropriate packaging, where none presented the fulfillment of all the requirements demanded by RDC 10/10.
