Resumo: Objective: to describe the profile and evaluate the quality of life of people living with HIV treated in public health services in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Method: a descriptive, quantitative study with 180 people living with HIV in three Specialized Care Services (SAE). A questionnaire of socioeconomic and clinical data and the instrument for assessing quality of life (WHOQOL-HIV bref) were used. The data were organized by the SPSS software. Results: the domain spirituality, religion and beliefs people had the highest score, followed by the psychological domain. The lowest averages were in the domains level of independence and environment, which are related to the need for treatment and the low socioeconomic level, reflecting negatively on the quality of life of the group. Conclusion: it was found in the general analysis that there is a predominantly positive assessment among the members of the group, evidenced both in the self-assessment and as a result of the analysis of the scores of the WHOQOL-HIV brief domains.

Se utilizó un cuestionario de datos socioeconómicos y clínicos y el instrumento de evaluación de la calidad de vida (WHOQOL-HIV bref). Los datos fueron organizados por el software SPSS. Resultados: el dominio espiritualidad, religión y creencias las personas obtuvieron la puntuación más alta, seguido del dominio psicológico. Los promedios más bajos se dieron en los dominios de independencia y medio ambiente, que se relacionan con la necesidad de tratamiento y el bajo nivel socioeconómico, lo que repercute negativamente en la calidad de vida del grupo. Conclusión: se encontró en el análisis general que existe una valoración predominantemente positiva entre los miembros del grupo, evidenciada tanto en la autoevaluación como resultante del análisis de las puntuaciones de los dominios del WHOQOL-HIV bref.Objetivo: descrever o perfil e avaliar a qualidade de vida de pessoas vivendo com HIV atendidas em serviços públicos de saúde no município do Rio de Janeiro. Método: estudo descritivo, quantitativo, com 180 pessoas vivendo com HIV atendidos em três Serviços de Atendimento Especializado (SAE). Utilizou-se um questionário de dados socioeconômicos e clínicos e o instrumento de avaliação da qualidade de vida (WHOQOL-HIV bref). Os dados foram organizados pelo software SPSS. Resultados: o domínio espiritualidade, religião e crenças pessoas apresentou o maior escore, seguido do domínio psicológico. As médias mais baixas foram dos domínios nível de independência e meio ambiente, que se relacionam a necessidade de tratamento e ao baixo nível socioeconômico, refletindo negativamente na qualidade de vida do grupo.
