Productive and market potential of bacuri fruit (Platonia insignis Mart.) in Pará, Brazil

Resumo: In order to understand the production and marketing patterns of bacuri (Platonia insignis Mart.) fruit, in the state of Pará, this research aims to present an exploratory analysis of the bacuri's production and market situation. The research used agricultural production data from the 2017 Census of Agriculture of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and data from the Central de Abastecimento do Pará (CEASA/PA, 2020). Quantitative and qualitative analyzes were carried out in relation to the data obtained on the bacuri's production and market situation. The results show that there are 1,329 agricultural establishments related to the production of bacuri in Pará. The State corresponds to 49.2% in relation to the total quantity in Brazil, since the country has 2,700 agricultural establishments that carry out the production of bacuri. At the national level, fruit production is concentrated only in two regions: North, where the production was 1,579 tons produced in 2017, contributing 86.4%; and the Northeast, where 248 tonnes were obtained, with a 13.5% share. Altogether the State of Pará produced 1,482 tons and sold 865 tons, representing 58.3% of the quantity produced. It is noted that a little more than half of the total production was sold. Therefore, the bacuri fruit and pulp market is very promising for the State of Pará. However, its production is mostly extractive or managed, which prevents a structured production to meet the product demand.

La investigación utilizo datos de producción agrícola del Censo de Agricultura 2017 del Instituto Brasileño de Geografía y Estadística (IBGE) y datos del Central de Abastecimento do Pará (CEASA/PA, 2020). Se llevaron a cabo análisis cuantitativos y cualitativos em relación con los datos obtenidos sobre la producción y la situación del mercado del bacuri. Los resultados muestran que existen 1.329 establecimientos agrícolas relacionados con la producción de bacuri en Pará. El Estado corresponde al 49,2% em relación con la cantidad total en Brasil, ya que el país cuenta con 2.700 establecimientos agrícolas que realizan la producción de bacuri. A nivel nacional, la producción de fruta se concentra solo en dos regiones: Norte, donde la producción fue de 1,579 toneladas producidas en 2017, contribuyendo con 86.4%; y el noreste, donde se obtuvieron 248 toneladas, con una participación del 13,5%. En total, el Estado de Pará produjo 1.482 toneladas y vendió 865 toneladas, lo que representa el 58,3% de la cantidad producida. Se observa que se vendió um poco más de lamitad de la producción total. Por lo tanto, el mercado de pulpa y fruta de bacuri es muy prometedor para el Estado de Pará. Sin embargo, su producción es mayormente extractiva o gestionada, lo que impide que la producción estructurada satisfaga la demanda del producto.Para compreender os padrões de produção, e de comercialização do fruto de bacuri (Platonia insignis Mart.), no estado do Pará, a pesquisa apresenta uma análise exploratória do potencial produtivo e de mercado do bacuri. Para a análise utilizou-se os dados da produção agrícola do Censo Agropecuário 2017, do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), e dados da Central de Abastecimento do Pará (CEASA/PA, 2020). Realizou-se análises quantitativas e qualitativas em relação aos dados obtidos, sobre a conjuntura produtiva e de mercado do bacuri. Os resultados mostram que existem 1.329 estabelecimentos agropecuários relacionados à produção de bacuri no Pará. O Estado corresponde a 49,2% em relação à quantidade total no Brasil, pois, o país possui 2.700 estabelecimentos agropecuários que realizam a produção de bacuri. Em nível nacional, a produção do fruto está concentrada apenas em duas regiões: Norte, onde a produção foi de 1.579 toneladas em 2017, contribuindo com 86,4%; e o Nordeste, onde ocorreu a obtenção de 248 toneladas, com participação de 13,5%. Ao todo o estado do Pará produziu 1.482 toneladas e realizou a venda de 865 toneladas, representando 58,3% da quantidade produzida. Nota-se que ocorreu a venda de um pouco mais da metade, do total da produção. Portanto, o mercado do fruto e da polpa de bacuri é bastante promissor para o Pará.
