Resumo: Breastfeeding is a multifactorial process that both benefits mother and child. The promotion of exclusive breastfeeding up to six months of age is essential to reduce infant morbidity and mortality. In this context, the nursing professional acts to promote information and encourage breastfeeding since the beginning of pregnancy and promotes the application of appropriate techniques for satisfactory breastfeeding. Given the relevance of the topic, the objective of the present study was to conduct a qualitative bibliographic survey about the performance of the nursing professional in the breastfeeding process. To this end, a search was conducted in the main scientific databases using the keywords: Breastfeeding, nursing, breastfeeding, nurse. The review was structured to present the importance of breastfeeding in the health of the mother and child, the role of nurses in this process and the advancement of public breastfeeding policies in Brazil. With this, the present work can conclude that the importance of exclusive breastfeeding until the child six months of age is unanimous in the literature and that the nursing professional has a decisive role in the adequate application of techniques and stimuli regarding the breastfeeding process appropriate.

La promoción de la lactancia materna exclusiva hasta los seis meses de edad es fundamental para reducir la morbilidad y mortalidad infantil. En este contexto, el profesional de enfermería actúa para promover la información y fomentar la lactancia materna desde el inicio del embarazo y promueve la aplicación de técnicas adecuadas para una lactancia materna satisfactoria. Dada la relevancia del tema, el objetivo del presente estudio fue realizar una encuesta bibliográfica cualitativa sobre el desempeño del profesional de enfermería en el proceso de lactancia materna. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda en las principales bases de datos científicas utilizando las palabras clave: Lactancia materna, enfermería, lactancia materna, enfermera. La revisión se estructuró para presentar la importancia de la lactancia materna en la salud de la madre y el niño, el papel de las enfermeras en este proceso y el avance de las políticas públicas de lactancia materna en Brasil. Con esto, el presente trabajo puede concluir que la importancia de la lactancia materna exclusiva hasta los seis meses de edad del niño es unánime en la literatura y que el profesional de enfermería tiene un papel decisivo en la adecuada aplicación de técnicas y estímulos en cuanto al proceso de lactancia materna. apropiado.A amamentação é um processo multifatorial que traz benefícios à mãe e à criança. Nesse contexto o profissional da enfermagem atua na promoção de informação e estímulo ao aleitamento desde o início da gestação e promove a aplicação de técnicas adequadas para uma amamentação satisfatória. Dada a relevância do tema, o objetivo do presente estudo foi realizar um levantamento bibliográfico qualitativo acerca da atuação do profissional da enfermagem no processo de amamentação. Para tal, realizou-se uma busca nas principais bases de dados científicos utilizando as palavras-chave: Aleitamento materno, enfermagem, amamentação, enfermeiro. A revisão foi estruturada de forma a apresentar a importância do aleitamento materno na a saúde da mãe e da criança, o papel do enfermeiro nesse processo e o avanço de políticas públicas de amamentação no Brasil.
