Applicability of lean methodology in the organization of health services: an integrative review

Resumo: The present work aimed to analyze the scientific studies that describe the systematization of the applicability of the Lean methodology in the organization of health services. It is an integrative review of articles published in Portuguese, English or Spanish, available in full in the databases PUBMED, CINAHL, EMBASE e LILACS, MEDLINE, The descriptors was used “Leanmethodology”; “Leanhealthcare”; “healthservice”; “organizations”; “administration” and keywords with the boolean “AND” and “OR”, respectively, nine studies were selected and analyzed. The analysis of the selected manuscripts made it possible to elaborate a category Applicability of the Lean methodology in health services / processes: objectives and improvement project teams. It is concluded that the application of the Lean methodology does not offer only a specific result, it can go beyond what is desired to be achieved with the objectives previously and outlined, since health services are organized, created or restructured in a standardized manner, with a trained staff, aiming to identify and eliminate residues, waste and avoid rework.

Es una revisión integradora de artículos publicados en portugués, inglés o español, disponible en su totalidad en las bases PUBMED, CINAHL, EMBASE e LILACS, MEDLINE. Se utilizaron los descriptores. Leanmethodology”; “Leanhealthcare”; “healthservice”; “organizations”; “administration” y palabras clave con el booleano “AND” y “OR”, respectivamente, nueve estudios fueron seleccionados y analizados. El análisis de los manuscritos seleccionados permitió la creación de una categoría: Aplicabilidad de la metodología Lean en los servicios / procesos de salud: Proyecto de mejora de objetivos y equipos. Se concluyó que la aplicación de la metodología Lean no ofrece solo un resultado específico, ser capaz de ir más allá de lo que uno desea lograr con los objetivos previamente detallados, ya que los servicios de salud se organizan, crean o reestructuran de manera estandarizada, con un cuerpo de empleados capacitados, con el objetivo de identificar y eliminar el desperdicio, desperdicio y evitar el reproceso.O presente trabalho teve como objetivo analisar os estudos científicos que descrevam a sistematização da aplicabilidade da metodologia Lean na organização de serviços de saúde. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de artigos publicados em português, inglês ou espanhol, disponíveis na íntegra nas bases PUBMED, CINAHL, EMBASE e LILACS, MEDLINE. Foram utilizados os descritores “Leanmethodology”; “Leanhealthcare”; “healthservice”; “organizations”; “administration” e palavras-chave com o booleano “AND” e “OR”, respectivamente, sendo selecionados e analisados nove estudos. A análise dos manuscritos selecionados possibilitou na elaboração de uma categoria: Aplicabilidade da metodologia Lean nos serviços/processos na saúde: objetivos e equipes de projeto de melhoria.
