Reflections on Biology teaching methodologies

Resumo: Education has been undergoing major changes in teaching methodological issues, given that, the National Curriculum Parameters (or Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais) present pedagogical proposals, it is up to school managers to enable the use of these resources to improve the quality of teaching. The contents applied to the discipline of Biology should not only remain centered on the methodology based on the transmission of information through the textbook. It is necessary that the teacher seeks strategies that will contribute to the knowledge of high school students, in the student's continuous training. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate what are the difficulties encountered by Biology teachers in the development of new teaching methods, as well as to understand the reasons for not using them in the school's daily life. The data collected for analysis of the study were obtained through a questionnaire carried out with Biology teachers from a Public School in the city of Manaus. A percentage of teachers stated that they do not apply new methods due to lack of time, others say that the use of books alone is still one of the main mediators of information, others pointed out that the use of new methods would complement the theoretical classes. The lack of these modalities directly implies the student's learning and there are factors that contribute to the failure in the teaching-learning process. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss and reflect on these factors so that situations can be developed to adapt it to different teaching realities.

Los contenidos aplicados a la disciplina de la biología no solo deben permanecer centrados en la metodología basada en la transmisión de información a través del libro de texto. Es necesario que el maestro busque estrategias que contribuyan al conocimiento de los estudiantes de secundaria, en la capacitación continua del estudiante. Por lo tanto, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo investigar cuáles son las dificultades encontradas por los profesores de biología en el desarrollo de nuevos métodos de enseñanza, así como comprender las razones por las que no se utilizan en la vida diaria de la escuela. Los datos recopilados para el análisis del estudio se obtuvieron a través de un cuestionario realizado con profesores de biología de una escuela pública en la ciudad de Manaus. Un porcentaje de docentes declaró que no aplican nuevos métodos debido a la falta de tiempo, otros dicen que el uso de libros por sí solo sigue siendo uno de los principales mediadores de la información, otros señalaron que el uso de nuevos métodos complementaría las clases teóricas. La falta de estas modalidades implica directamente el aprendizaje del alumno y hay factores que contribuyen al fracaso en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Por lo tanto, es necesario discutir y reflexionar sobre estos factores para que se puedan desarrollar situaciones para adaptarlo a diferentes realidades de enseñanza.A educação vem passando por grandes mudanças nas questões metodológicas do ensino, diante disso, os Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais apresentam propostas pedagógicas, cabe aos gestores escolares possibilitar o uso desses recursos para melhorar a qualidade do ensino. Os conteúdos aplicados à disciplina de Biologia não devem permanecer apenas centrados na metodologia embasada na transmissão de informações por meio do livro didático. É necessário que o professor busque estratégias que venham a contribuir para o conhecimento dos alunos do ensino médio, na formação contínua do estudante. Sendo assim, o presente estudo teve como objetivo investigar quais são as dificuldades encontradas pelos professores de Biologia para a elaboração de novos métodos de ensino, bem como entender quais motivos para o não uso no cotidiano da escola. Os dados coletados para análise do estudo foram obtidos por meio de um questionário realizado com professores de Biologia de uma Escola Pública da cidade de Manaus. Uma porcentagem dos professores afirmou que não aplica novos métodos por falta de tempo, outros afirmam que o uso apenas do livro ainda é dos principais mediadores de informações, outros apontaram que o uso de novos métodos serviria de complemento para as aulas teóricas. A falta dessas modalidades implica diretamente no aprendizado do aluno e há fatores que contribuem para o insucesso no processo de ensino aprendizagem.
