Geometric Optics and experimental activities: between training and teaching Antônio Marcos de Souza

Resumo: This qualitative study investigated through a case study in public high schools in a Regional Superintendent of Education from Minas Gerais State, relationships between teacher´s view of their initial training and their role as a basic education teachers, with respect to the contents of Geometrical Optics and experimental activities. Ten teachers from six schools in five cities from a group of 29 teachers from 22 schools in 16 municipalities that comprised the jurisdiction of Superintendence were selected. The data were obtained through questionnaires with closed and open questions, which in a first part characterized the profile of the respondents, and in a second part interrelated to the geometric optics and the training and teaching performance. The results indicate that the group of teachers, though most of them do not have access to this content formally in initial training courses and they did not perform experimental activities, attach great importance to the study of Geometric Optics to high school students.

Se seleccionaron diez profesores de seis escuelas en cinco ciudades, de un universo de 29 profesores de 22 escuelas en 16 municipios que componían la jurisdicción de la referida Superindencia. Los datos fueron obtenidos a través de cuestionarios con preguntas cerradas y abiertas, que en una primera parte caracterizaban el perfil de los respondedores, y en una segunda parte interrelacionada a la óptica geométrica y la formación y actuación docente. Los resultados indican que en el grupo de profesores investigados, la mayoría no tuvo acceso a ese contenido formalmente en los cursos de formación inicial y tampoco realizó actividades experimentales. Sin embargo, los docentes atribuyen gran importancia al estudio de la Óptica Geométrica para estudiantes de la Enseñanza Media.Este trabalho de natureza qualitativa investigou, em escolas públicas de Ensino Médio de uma Superintendência Regional de Ensino do Estado de Minas Gerais, as relações, na visão dos docentes, entre sua formação inicial e sua atuação enquanto professores da educação básica no que concerne aos conteúdos de Óptica Geométrica e à realização de atividades experimentais. Foram selecionados dez professores de seis escolas em cinco cidades, de um universo de 29 professores de 22 escolas em 16 municípios que compunham a jurisdição da referida Superindência. Os dados foram obtidos através de questionários com perguntas fechadas e abertas, que em uma primeira parte caracterizavam o perfil dos respondentes, e em uma segunda parte inter-relacionada à óptica geométrica e a formação e atuação docente. Os resultados indicam que no grupo de professores investigados, a maioria não teve acesso a esse conteúdo formalmente nos cursos de formação inicial e também não realizou atividades experimentais.
