Resumo: The evaluation of the educational performance of youngsters and adults can occur through the National Exam for Certification of Competences of Youngsters and Adults. The tests that comprise the exam have among the purposes, to be evaluation instruments to manage the quality of education focused on the modality of Youth and Adult Education, assessing the skills and abilities foreseen in each test, as well as assessing the learning resulting from curricular components common to education such as Mathematics. The objective of this study is to analyze the performance of participants of the National Exam for Certification of Competences of Youngsters and Adults, Lower Secondary Education, in the Mathematics test of the year 2014. The research is of quantitative approach. The microdata available from the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research "Anísio Teixeira" (Inep) were used. For the analysis of the data was used descriptive statistics and the SPSS Software (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). The results showed that males obtained better means in mathematics than females; As for location, the urban area presented a higher average than the rural area, indigenous community and quilombola community; already compared to the Brazilian region, the participants of the Southeast Region showed a better average in the component than in the South, Central West, North and Northeast regions. We suggest studies that re-analyze if the competences related to Mathematics are being reached, and how socioeconomic factors can interfere when related to the variables analyzed in this study. It is also suggested to use more sophisticated statistical tests for data analysis.

Las pruebas que componen el examen tienen entre las finalidades, ser instrumentos evaluativos para gestionar la calidad de la educación volcada a la modalidad Educación de Jóvenes y Adultos aferrando las competencias y habilidades previstas en cada prueba, así como aferir los aprendizajes derivados de componentes curriculares comunes a la educación como la matemática. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar el desempeño de participantes del Examen Nacional para Certificación de Competencias de Jóvenes y Adultos, Educación Secundária Inferior, en la prueba de Matemáticas de la edición del año 2014. La investigación es de abordaje cuantitativo. Se utilizaron los microdatos disponibles por el Instituto Nacional de Estudios e Investigaciones Educativas "Anísio Teixeira" (Inep). Para el análisis de los datos se utilizó estadística descriptiva y el software SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). Los resultados demostraron que el sexo masculino obtuvo medias mejores en Matemáticas que el sexo femenino; en cuanto a ubicación, la zona urbana presentó una media más elevada que la zona rural, comunidad indígena y comunidad quilombola; ya en comparación con la región brasileña, los participantes de la Región Sudeste demostraron un promedio mejor en el componente que Sur, Centro-Oeste, Norte y Nordeste. Se sugieren estudios que se vuelvan a analizar si las competencias relativas a las Matemáticas están siendo alcanzadas, y como factores socioeconómicos pueden interferir cuando relacionados con las variables analizadas en este estudio. También se sugiere utilizar pruebas estadísticas más sofisticadas para el análisis de los datos.A avaliação do desempenho educacional de jovens e adultos pode ocorrer por meio do Exame Nacional para Certificação de Competências de Jovens e Adultos. As provas que compõem o exame têm dentre as finalidades, serem instrumentos avaliativos para gerir a qualidade da educação voltada a modalidade Educação de Jovens e Adultos aferindo as competências e habilidades previstas em cada prova, bem como aferir os aprendizados decorrentes de componentes curriculares comuns a Educação Básica, como a Matemática. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar o desempenho de participantes do Exame Nacional para Certificação de Competências de Jovens e Adultos, Ensino Fundamental, na prova de Matemática da edição do ano de 2014. Os resultados demonstraram que o sexo masculino obteve médias melhores em Matemática do que o sexo feminino; quanto a localização, a zona urbana apresentou média mais elevada que a zona rural, comunidade indígena e comunidade quilombola; já quando comparada por região brasileira, os participantes da Região Sudeste demonstraram média melhor no componente do que Sul, Centro-Oeste, Norte e Nordeste.  Sugerem-se estudos que se voltem a analisar se as competências relativas à Matemática estão sendo atingidas, e como fatores socioeconômicos podem interferir quando relacionados as variáveis analisadas neste estudo.
