Intensive Care Unit nurses perception of pain management and assessment: a narrative review of the literature

Resumo: | Objective: to analyze, through the literature, the perception of intensive care nurses related to pain management and assessment. Methods: This is a narrative review of the literature, carried out in LILACS, MEDLINE and BDENF databases, based on studies published between 2010 and 2020. Results: The perception of nurses about pain management and assessment is inadequate. However, resident or newly graduated nurses have a higher perception than professionals who have been outside educational institutions for a longer time, that is, we observe that nurses who work in care do not take professional qualification courses and do not participate in permanent and continuing education programs. Thus, there is a need to develop strategies to train these professionals, through investment in training, institution of care protocols for the efficient care of critically ill patients who show episodes of pain. Conclusion: the scarcity of recent studies, in the last 3 years, made it impossible to interrelate data to match the perception of these professionals in a comprehensive way. |

Métodos: Se trata de una revisión bibliográfica realizada en las bases de datos LILACS, MEDLINE y BDENF, con base en estudios publicados entre 2010 y 2020. Resultados: La percepción de las enfermeras sobre el manejo y evaluación del dolor es pobre. Sin embargo, es decir, enfermeros o recién graduados en una percepción que promueve una percepción superior del tiempo a las instituciones educativas, sean enfermeros que cursen programas de formación profesional y no participen de programas de educación continua. Por lo tanto, existe la necesidad de desarrollar estrategias para formadores profesionales, a través de la inversión en formación, institución de protocolos de atención para un protocolo de atención eficiente para pacientes críticos que muestran dolor. Conclusión: el análisis de datos profesionales de estudios recientes, en los últimos 3 años, hizo imposible una interacción de datos integral.Objetivo: analisar por meio da literatura, a percepção de enfermeiros intensivista relacionada ao manejo e a avaliação da dor. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa da literatura, realizada nas bases de dados LILACS, MEDLINE e BDENF, a partir de estudos publicados entre 2010 a 2020. Resultados: A percepção de enfermeiros sobre o manejo e a avaliação da dor é inadequado. Entretanto, enfermeiros residentes ou recém formados apresentam uma percepção superior aos profissionais que estão a mais tempo fora das instituições de ensino, ou seja, observamos que enfermeiros que atuam na assistência não realizam cursos de qualificação profissional e não participam de programas de educação permanente e continuada. Dessa forma, há a necessidade de desenvolver estratégias para capacitar esses profissionais, através de investimento em capacitações, instituição de protocolos assistenciais para a eficiente assistência ao paciente crítico que evidencia episódios de dor.
