Continuing education actions for higher education professionals: primary health care in the context of educational practices for the elderly

Resumo: Objective: to trace the sociodemographic profile of professionals and identify the relevant themes in the approach of Health Education activities aimed at the elderly in Primary Health Care. Methodology: quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study. Higher education professionals working in Primary Health Care participated. Convenience sampling, constituting discrete quantitative variables. A semi-structured instrument was used, seeking to identify sociodemographic and professional data, aspects of Health Education and professional training. The databases were analyzed using the Software Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 21.0 statistical program. Results: the majority were female nurses, with a mean age of 41 years, Catholic and married. The importance of Health Education activities was perceived, and such actions take place in the units where they work. Many participants reported having no experience in Elderly Health. In the work routine, education actions were permanently carried out during the Hiperdia group and the main topics addressed were the use of medicines and the treatment of specific pathologies. Conclusion: Health Education actions proved to be of paramount importance according to the participants, who showed interest in Continuing Health Education activities. Despite the recognition of Health Education actions, there are still challenges for its implementation in practice, requiring the awareness of government entities and health managers.

Metodología: estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo y transversal. Participaron profesionales de la enseñanza superior que actúan en la Atención Primaria de Salud. Muestreo por conveniencia, constituyendo variables cuantitativas discretas. Se utilizó un instrumento semiestructurado, buscando identificar datos sociodemográficos y profesionales, aspectos de Educación en Salud y formación profesional. Las bases de datos fueron analizadas utilizando el programa estadístico Software Statistical Package for Social Sciences versión 21.0. Resultados: la mayoría eran enfermeras, con edad media de 41 años, católicas y casadas. Se percibió la importancia de las actividades de Educación en Salud, y tales acciones se realizan en las unidades donde actúan. Muchos participantes informaron no tener experiencia en Salud de Ancianos. En la rutina de trabajo, permanentemente se realizaron acciones de educación durante el grupo Hiperdia y los principales temas abordados fueron el uso de medicamentos y el tratamiento de patologías específicas. Conclusión: Las acciones de Educación en Salud demostraron ser de suma importancia según los participantes, que mostraron interés en las actividades de Educación Continuada en Salud. A pesar del reconocimiento de las acciones de Educación en Salud, aún existen desafíos para su implementación en la práctica, requiriendo la sensibilización de las entidades gubernamentales y gestores de salud.Objetivo: traçar o perfil sociodemográfico dos profissionais e identificar quais as temáticas pertinentes na abordagem das atividades de Educação em Saúde voltadas para idosos na Atenção Primária à Saúde. Metodologia: estudo quantitativo, de caráter descritivo e transversal. Participaram profissionais de nível superior atuantes na Atenção Primária à Saúde. Amostragem por conveniência, constituindo variáveis quantitativas discretas. Foi utilizado instrumento semiestruturado, buscando identificar dados sociodemográficos e profissionais, aspectos sobre Educação em Saúde e formação profissional. Os bancos foram analisados no programa estatístico Software Statistical Package for Social Sciences versão 21.0. Resultados: a maioria eram enfermeiras, do sexo feminino, com média de 41 anos, católicas e casadas. Foi percebida a importância das atividades de Educação em Saúde, sendo que tais ações acontecem nas unidades em que trabalham. Muitos participantes relataram não ter experiência em Saúde do Idoso. Na rotina de trabalho, as ações de educação permamente eram realizadas durante a realização do grupo Hiperdia e as principais temáticas abordadas o uso de medicamentos e o tratamento de patologias específicas. Conclusão: ações de Educação em Saúde mostraram-se de suma importância de acordo com os participantes, os quais demonstraram interesse nas atividades de Educação Permanente em Saúde.
