Leprosy: health education in front of prejudice and social stigms

Resumo: The main objective of this article is to report the experience of nursing students in a health education action on leprosy, with the elderly, in a Municipal Health Unit. The methodology consisted of a qualitative study with a descriptive approach of the type of experience report, having as a basic instrument of elaboration of the research the Arch of Maguerez, which is composed of five stages, namely: a) Observation of Reality; b) Survey of Key Points; (c) theorization; d) Solution Hypotheses; e) Return to Reality. The result was through health education, solving numerous doubts that users had about leprosy, contributing to the promotion and prevention of the population's health, enabling the execution of preventive practices and adherence to treatment. We believe that this study can contribute to other research focused on this approach and serve as an incentive for more health actions on this disease, based on coping with prejudices, taboos and social stigmas, thus fulfilling itself effectively and responsibly.

La metodología consistió en un estudio cualitativo con un enfoque descriptivo del tipo de informe de experiencia, teniendo como instrumento básico de elaboración de la investigación el Arco de Maguerez, que se compone de cinco etapas, a saber: a) Observación de la Realidad; b) Encuesta de Puntos Clave; (c) teorización; d) Hipótesis de solución; e) Volver a la realidad. El resultado fue a través de la educación sanitaria, resolviendo numerosas dudas que los usuarios tenían sobre la lepra, contribuyendo a la promoción y prevención de la salud de la población, permitiendo la ejecución de prácticas preventivas y la adherencia al tratamiento. Creemos que este estudio puede contribuir a otras investigaciones centradas en este enfoque y servir como incentivo para más acciones de salud en esta enfermedad, basadas en hacer frente a prejuicios, tabúes y estigmas sociales, cumpliéndo así de manera efectiva y responsable.O objetivo principal do artigo é relatar a experiência de acadêmicos de enfermagem em uma ação de educação em saúde sobre hanseníase, com idosos, numa Unidade Municipal de Saúde. A metodologia consistiu em um estudo qualitativo com uma abordagem descritiva do tipo relato de experiência, tendo como instrumento base de elaboração da pesquisa o Arco de Maguerez, o qual é composto por cinco etapas, a saber: a) Observação da Realidade; b) Levantamento de Pontos-Chave; c) Teorização; d) Hipóteses de Solução; e) Retorno à Realidade. O resultado se deu por meio da educação em saúde, sanando inúmeras dúvidas que os usuários apresentavam sobre hanseníase, contribuindo com a promoção e prevenção à saúde da população, possibilitando a execução de práticas preventivas e de adesão ao tratamento. Consideramos que este estudo possa contribuir para outras pesquisas voltadas a essa abordagem e servir de incentivo para mais ações em saúde sobre essa doença, tendo como base o enfrentamento de preconceitos, tabus e estigmas sociais, cumprindo-se assim, de forma efetiva e responsável.
