Humanistic disciplines and training for work at Escola Técnica Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (1968-1985)

Resumo: | Training for work at the Escola Técnica Federal do Rio Grande Norte (ETFRN) during the Military Dictatorship, was immersed in proposals for educational reforms that followed the technicist model and, therefore, emphasized technical knowledge at the expense of humanistic disciplines. This work proposes to analyze the place of human subjects in the training of ETFRN students between 1968 and 1985. We use documentary sources such as school records, class diaries and current educational legislation. We also use oral and bibliographic sources, theses, dissertations and monographs, books and articles. The content analysis, defined by Júlio Aróstegui, served as a basis for understanding the documents and interviews. On oral history, we spoke with Alessandro Portelli and Jose Carlos Sebe Bom Meihy. Notably the Dictatorship has dealt a heavy blow to the humanities in general, and especially to education for work, relegating them to a subordinate place. However, we realized that in addition to the curriculum there was a diversity of approach and meanings that students and teachers could give in everyday life. The voices are dissonant and this shows us that reality is not univocal, hence the importance of bringing to light debates like this, which is still incipient in the History of Professional Education. |

Este trabajo se propone analizar el lugar de las áreas de humanidades en la formación de los estudiantes de la ETFRN entre 1968 y 1985. Utilizamos fuentes documentales como registros escolares, diarios de clase y legislación educativa vigente. También utilizamos fuentes orales y bibliográficas, tesis, disertaciones y monografías, libros y artículos. El análisis de contenido, definido por Júlio Aróstegui, sirvió de base para la comprensión de los documentos y entrevistas. Sobre Historia Oral, conversamos con Alessandro Portelli y Jose Carlos Sebe Bom Meihy. Cabe destacar que la Dictadura ha asestado un duro golpe a las humanidades en general, y especialmente a la educación para el trabajo, relegándolas a un lugar subordinado. Sin embargo, nos dimos cuenta de que además del currículo existía una diversidad de enfoques y significados que estudiantes y profesores podían dar en la vida cotidiana. Las voces son disonantes y esto nos muestra que la realidad no es unívoca, de ahí la importancia de sacar a la luz debates como este, que aún es incipiente en la Historia de la Educación Profesional.A formação para o trabalho na Escola Técnica Federal do Rio Grande Norte (ETFRN) durante a Ditadura Militar, estava imersa em proposições de reformas educacionais que seguiam o modelo tecnicista e, portanto, davam ênfase aos saberes técnicos em detrimento das disciplinas humanísticas. Este trabalho se propõe a analisar o lugar das disciplinas da área humana na formação dos estudantes da ETFRN entre 1968 e 1985. Recorremos a fontes documentais como histórico escolar, diários de classe e legislação educacional vigente. Usamos também fontes orais e fontes bibliográficas, teses, dissertações e monografias, livros e artigos. A análise documental, definida por Júlio Aróstegui, serviu de base para a compreensão das fontes e entrevistas. Sobre a história oral, dialogamos com Alessandro Portelli e Jose Carlos Sebe Bom Meihy. Notadamente a Ditadura deu um duro golpe nas ciências humanas, de modo geral, e especialmente na educação para o trabalho, relegando a elas um lugar subalterno. No entanto, percebemos que para além do currículo havia a diversidade de abordagem e significações que os estudantes e professores poderiam dar no cotidiano.
