Teamwork and communication in oncological care: integrative review

Resumo: Objective: to identify the challenges of teamwork and communication in hospital cancer care. The Rayyan platform hosted the 1721 productions identified. Method: the PRISMA methodology (PAGE et al., 2021) was used in the analysis of titles and abstracts, by two independent evaluators, in double blind. 39 productions were read in full. Nine met the criteria and were included. A synoptic table organized the summaries of the analyses. Results: communication challenges among professionals; reporting the severity and terminality of cases; psychological distress associated with leadership; moral distress in professionals; professional intervention based on honesty, empathy and effective communication; team climate in the therapeutic process. Conclusion: it is concluded that the oncological complexity demands an articulated and integrated action of professional teams, collective goals and effective communication.

Nueve cumplieron los criterios y fueron incluidos. Un cuadro sinóptico organizó los resúmenes de los análisis. Resultados: desafíos de comunicación entre profesionales; informar sobre la gravedad y la terminalidad de los casos; angustia psicológica asociada con el liderazgo; angustia moral en los profesionales; intervención profesional basada en la honestidad, la empatía y la comunicación eficaz; Clima de equipo en el proceso terapéutico. Conclusión: se concluye que la complejidad oncológica exige una acción articulada e integrada de equipos profesionales, metas colectivas y comunicación efectiva.Objetivo: identificar os desafios do trabalho em equipe e da comunicação no cuidado oncológico hospitalar. Método: a metodologia PRISMA (PAGE et al., 2021) foi utilizada na análise dos títulos e resumos, por dois avaliadores independentes, em duplo cego. Foram lidas integralmente 39 produções. Nove atenderam aos critérios e foram incluídas. Um quadro sinóptico organizou as sínteses das análises. Resultados: desafios da comunicação entre os profissionais; comunicação de severidade e terminalidade dos casos; sofrimento psíquico associado à liderança; sofrimento moral em profissionais; intervenção profissional baseada em honestidade, empatia e comunicação efetiva; clima de equipe no processo terapêutico.
