Leadership of Nurses in Primary Health Care: An integrative review

Resumo: The leadership of the nurse in Primary Health Care has become a primary theme for this professional, recognized as a leader and manager of the work process in Basic Health Units. The present study aimed to apprehend the state of health art of nurse leadership studies in Primary Health Care. This is a qualitative study, based on an integrative review in journals indexed in the SciELO, LILACS and BDENF databases, in the period between 2010 and 2020. 16 articles were found; of these, only seven publications were selected. The behavioral theories of leadership predominated, in the democratic style, although some consider the autocratic or authoritarian and the liberal style as the highlight. Thus, research on nurse leadership in Primary Health Care is limited and restricted to managerial aspects, it is important to develop both scientific production and the encouragement of permanent education in the area.

El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo aprehender el estado de salud arte de los estudios de liderazgo de enfermería en Atención Primaria de Salud. Se trata de un estudio cualitativo, basado en una revisión integradora en revistas indexadas en las bases de datos SciELO, LILACS y BDENF, en el período comprendido entre 2010 y 2020. Se encontraron 16 artículos; de estos, solo se seleccionaron siete publicaciones. Predominaron las teorías conductistas del liderazgo, al estilo democrático, aunque algunos consideran el estilo autocrático o autoritario y el liberal como lo más destacado. Así, la investigación sobre el liderazgo de enfermería en Atención Primaria de Salud es limitada y restringida a aspectos gerenciales, es importante desarrollar tanto la producción científica como el fomento de la educación permanente en el área.A liderança do enfermeiro na Atenção Primária à Saúde tem se constituído como tema primordial para esse profissional, reconhecido como líder e gerente do processo de trabalho nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde. O presente estudo teve como objetivo apreender o estado da arte dos estudos sobre liderança do enfermeiro na Atenção Primária à Saúde.  Trata-se de estudo qualitativo, realizado com base na revisão integrativa em periódicos indexados nas bases de dados SciELO, LILACS e BDENF, no período compreendido entre 2010 e 2020. Foram encontrados 16 artigos; desses, apenas sete publicações foram selecionadas. Predominaram as teorias comportamentais de liderança, no estilo democrático, embora alguns considerem o autocrático ou autoritário e o estilo liberal como destaque.
