Reliability of methods using a new graphic template to evaluate alveolar bone graft in cleft lip palate on radiographs

Resumo: This research aimed to evaluate the reliability of methods using a new graphic template to evaluate alveolar bone graft in cleft lip palate on radiographs. The sample consisted of 30 radiographs of individuals with bone grafts that were analyzed by two raters using SWAG and Chelsea, alveolar bone graft rating methods. The images were analyzed in PowerPoint, and second, introducing a template, that was designed in PowerPoint by the examiners. The inter-reliability and intra-reliability were determined using weighted Kappa statistics, with and without the template, in Jamovi 1.2 software. The determination of the intra-reliability was performed through the random selection of 10 radiographs. Inter-rater reliability in SWAG and Chelsea methods without the template, were moderate (0.574 and 0.519) and with was good (0.745 and 0.735) in both scales. Intra-rater reliability was good (0.710-0.610 and 0.634-0.639) in SWAG and Chelsea methods without the template, and including, this reliability was very good (1 and 0.846) in SWAG scale and good to very good (0.872 and 0.762) in Chelsea method. The use of a template to evaluate the images of alveolar bone grafts in both methods had a positive impact on the results, increasing inter-rater to good and intra-rater reliability to very good.

La muestra consistió en 30 radiografías de individuos con injertos óseos que fueron analizados por dos evaluadores usando métodos de calificación de injerto óseo alveolar SWAG y Chelsea. Las imágenes fueron analizadas en PowerPoint, y segundo introduciendo una plantilla, que fue diseñada en PowerPoint por los examinadores. La interfiabilidad y la intrafiabilidad se determinaron utilizando estadísticas Kappa ponderadas, con y sin la plantilla, en el software Jamovi 1.2. La determinación de la intrafiabilidad se realizó mediante la selección aleatoria de 10 radiografías. La confiabilidad entre evaluadores en los métodos SWAG y Chelsea sin la plantilla, fue moderada (0.574 y 0.519) y fue buena (0.745 y 0.735) en ambas as escalas. La fiabilidad intra-evaluador fue buena (0,710-0,610 y 0,634-0,639) en los métodos SWAG y Chelsea sin la plantilla, e incluso, esta fiabilidad fue muy buena (1 y 0,846) en la escala SWAG y de buena a muy buena (0,872 y 0,762) en el método Chelsea. El uso de una plantilla para evaluar las imágenes de los injertos de hueso alveolar en ambos os métodos tuvo un impacto positivo en los resultados, aumentando la confiabilidad entre evaluadores a buena y la confiabilidad entre evaluadores a muy buena.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo avaliar a confiabilidade dos métodos utilizando um novo template gráfico para avaliação do enxerto ósseo alveolar em fissura labiopalatina em radiografias. A amostra foi composta por 30 radiografias de indivíduos com enxerto ósseo que foram analisadas por dois avaliadores utilizando SWAG e Chelsea, métodos de classificação de enxerto ósseo alveolar. As imagens foram analisadas em PowerPoint e, posteriormente, foi introduzido um template elaborado em PowerPoint pelos examinadores. A inter-confiabilidade e a intra-confiabilidade foram determinadas por meio da estatística Kappa ponderado, com e sem o template, no software Jamovi 1.2. A determinação da intra-confiabilidade foi realizada por meio da seleção aleatória de 10 radiografias. A confiabilidade entre avaliadores nos métodos SWAG e Chelsea sem o modelo foi moderada (0,574 e 0,519) e boa (0,745 e 0,735) em ambas as escalas. A confiabilidade intra-avaliador era boa (0,710-0,610 e 0,634-0,639) nos métodos SWAG e Chelsea sem o modelo e, incluindo, essa confiabilidade era muito boa (1 e 0,846) na escala SWAG e boa a muito boa (0,872 e 0,762) no método Chelsea.
