Environmental diagnosis and application of the risk analysis of a tributary of the Poxim River, Sergipe-Brazil

Resumo: | The land use and occupation in the Poxim river hydrographic sub-basin, in Sergipe, affects the condition of its water quality due to the intense urbanization process in the region. Factors such as disordered population growth, housing built on the banks of the beds, deforestation and the lack of adequate sewage services have led to degradation of this source. The risk analysis is a calculation method that assesses the changes caused by the various anthropogenic activities to a specified system through the integration of variables represented within lines of evidence, thus allowing the risk to be valued for one ecosystem. In this context, the objective of this work was to evaluate the degree of degradation, to identify possible factors of water contamination and to analyze the risk existing in a tributary of the Poxim river in São Cristóvão, Sergipe. For the application of the methodology, three sampling points of this tributary were defined in addition to the use of values from CONAMA Resolution nº 357/2005 as the normative reference. The results obtained showed that the alterations identified are related to the anthropic uses that occur along the stream. The chemical evidence line, which varied between low and medium risk, and the ecological line, estimated to be of very high risk, were valued. With the integration of the lines, the risk value ranged from high to very high, meaning that the hydrographic sub-basin needs emergency recovery measures. |

Factores como el crecimiento desordenado de la población, la construcción de viviendas en las riberas de los cauces, la deforestación y la falta de servicios de alcantarillado adecuados han llevado a la marcada degradación de esta fuente. El análisis de riesgo es un método de cálculo que evalúa los cambios provocados por las diversas actividades antropogénicas a un sistema dado mediante la integración de variables representadas dentro de líneas de evidencia, permitiendo así valorar el riesgo para un ecosistema. En este contexto, el objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el grado de degradación, identificar posibles factores de contaminación del agua y analizar el riesgo existente en un afluente del río Poxim en São Cristóvão, Sergipe. Se definieron tres puntos de muestreo de este afluente para la aplicación de la metodología, además del uso de los valores de la Resolución CONAMA nº 357/2005 como referencia normativa. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que las alteraciones identificadas están relacionadas con los usos antrópicos que se dan a lo largo del arroyo. Se valoró la línea de evidencia química, que variaba entre riesgo bajo y medio, y la línea ecológica, estimadas de muy alto riesgo. Con la integración de las líneas, el valor de riesgo varió de alto a muy alto, lo que significa que la subcuenca hidrográfica necesita de medidas de recuperación de emergencia.A forma de uso e ocupação do solo na sub-bacia hidrográfica do rio Poxim, em Sergipe, afeta a condição da qualidade de suas águas devido ao intenso processo de urbanização da região. Fatores como, crescimento populacional desordenado, habitações construídas às margens dos leitos, desmatamento e a falta de serviços de esgotamento sanitário adequado têm levado a degradação acentuada desse manancial. A análise de risco é um método de cálculo que avalia as alterações provocadas pelas diversas atividades antropogênicas a um determinado sistema por meio da integração de variáveis representadas dentro de linhas de evidências, permitindo desse modo valorar o risco para um ecossistema. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o grau de degradação, identificar possíveis fatores de contaminação hídrica e analisar o risco existente em um tributário do Rio Poxim em São Cristóvão, Sergipe. Foram definidos para a aplicação da metodologia três pontos amostrais deste afluente além da utilização de valores da Resolução CONAMA n° 357/2005 para a referência normativa. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que as alterações identificadas se relacionam com os usos antrópicos que ocorrem ao longo do riacho. Foram valoradas a linha de evidência química, que variou entre baixo e médio risco, e a linha ecológica estimada como de altíssimo risco.
