Resumo: | Introduction: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a biologically based neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent deficits in communication and social interaction and restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior, interests and activities. It is one of the most challenging neurodevelopmental diagnoses in children today. The literature includes prevalence studies from around the world, but only three meta-analyses are found. Objective: analyze, describe and classify data, with the aim of gathering knowledge about the relevance of the diagnosis and early therapeutic approach to autism, to improve the prognosis and quality of life of patients. Methods: this is an integrative literature review. The search began by creating the basic question and selecting the descriptors “Clinical Diagnosis”; “Autism Spectrum Disorder”; “Child”, in the Decs/Mesh thesaurus, and were used in the Scielo, UpToDate, Pubmed and regional portal VHL databases using “TEA” and “ASD diagnosis in pediatrics” as the search strategy. Results: articles that presented data related to Autism Spectrum Disorder were analyzed and it was identified that 19 productions addressed the central theme. Conclusions: the later the diagnosis of the syndrome, the worse its prognosis and lifestyle adjustment. |

Es uno de los diagnósticos del desarrollo neurológico más desafiantes en los niños de hoy. La literatura incluye estudios de prevalencia de todo el mundo, pero solo se encuentran tres metanálisis. Objetivo: analizar, describir y clasificar datos, con el objetivo de recopilar conocimiento sobre la relevancia del diagnóstico y abordaje terapéutico temprano del autismo, para mejorar el pronóstico y la calidad de vida de los pacientes. Métodos: se trata de una revisión integradora de la literatura. La búsqueda se inició creando la pregunta básica y seleccionando los descriptores “Diagnóstico Clínico”; "Desorden del espectro autista"; “Child”, en el tesauro Decs/Mesh, y fueron utilizados en las bases de datos Scielo, UpToDate, Pubmed y en el portal regional VHL utilizando como estrategia de búsqueda “TEA” y “ASD diagnostic in pediatría”. Resultados: se analizaron artículos que presentaban datos relacionados con el Trastorno del Espectro Autista y se identificó que 19 producciones abordaron el tema central. Conclusiones: cuanto más tardío es el diagnóstico del síndrome, peor es su pronóstico y adaptación al estilo de vida.Introdução: O transtorno do espectro autista (TEA) é um transtorno do neurodesenvolvimento de base biológica, caracterizado por déficits persistentes na comunicação e interação social de padrões restritos e repetitivos de comportamento, interesses e atividades. É um dos diagnósticos mais desafiadores do neurodesenvolvimento em crianças atualmente. A literatura agrega estudos de prevalência ao redor do mundo, mas são encontradas apenas três metanálises. Objetivo: analisar, descrever e classificar dados, com o intuito de reunir o conhecimento sobre a relevância do diagnóstico e abordagem terapêutica precoce do autismo, para melhora do prognóstico e qualidade de vida dos pacientes. Métodos: trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura. O início da busca se deu por meio da elaboração da pergunta de base e seleção dos descritores “Diagnóstico Clínico”; “Transtorno do Espectro Autista”; “Criança”, no thesaurus Decs/Mesh, e foram utilizados nas bases de dados Scielo, UpToDate, Pubmed e portal regional BVS usando como estratégia de busca “TEA” e “diagnóstico TEA na pediatria’’. Resultados: foram analisados artigos que apresentassem dados relacionados ao Transtorno do Espectro Autista identificou-se que 19 produções abordavam a temática central.
