Mental Health during the new Coronavirus Pandemic: some necessary reflections

Resumo: The text aims to reflect upon mental health in some specific segments during the new coronavirus pandemic. This is a literature narrative review conducted in the following databases: SciELO and LILACS, using as searching terms health professionals, mental health, mentally ill person, grief, grieving families, pandemic, and COVID-19. Reflection resulted in four topics development: psychological distress and possibilities of getting sick; mental health of health professionals; of mentally ill persons; and of grieving families. We conclude this, suggesting the existence of a real possibility for psychological distress and mental disorders appearance. The population in social isolation and quarantine stands out, as well as health professionals at the front line of combat against COVID-19, people with mental disorders, and grieving families. We understand the new coronavirus pandemic as a contribution to the improvement of mental health practices and for research in crisis situations, emergencies, and great disasters.

Se trata de una revisión narrativa de la literatura, realizada en las siguientes bases de datos: SciELO y LILACS, con busca de los términos: profesionales de salud, salud mental, persona con trastorno mental, luto, familias en luto, pandemia y COVID-19. La reflexión tuvo como resultado el desarrollo de cuatro tópicos: sufrimiento psíquico y posibilidades de enfermar; la salud mental de los profesionales de salud, de las personas con trastorno mental y de las familias en luto. Se concluye sugiriendo la existencia de la posibilidad real de sufrimiento psíquico y la aparición de trastornos mentales. Se destacan la población en aislamiento social y cuarentena, los profesionales de salud que actúan en la línea de frente en el combate al COVID-19, las personas con trastorno mental y las familias en luto. Se entiende que la pandemia del nuevo coronavirus podrá contribuir para el perfeccionamiento de las prácticas en salud mental y de la investigación en situaciones de crisis, emergencia y grandes desastres.O texto possui como objetivo refletir sobre a saúde mental em alguns segmentos específicos durante a pandemia do novo coronavírus. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa de literatura, realizada nas seguintes bases de dados:  SciELO e LILACS, com busca dos termos profissionais de saúde, saúde mental, pessoa com transtorno mental, luto, famílias enlutadas, pandemia e COVID-19. A reflexão teve como resultado o desenvolvimento de quatro tópicos: sofrimento psíquico e possibilidades de adoecimento; a saúde mental dos profissionais da saúde, das pessoas com transtorno mental e das famílias enlutadas. Conclui-se sugerindo a existência da possibilidade real de sofrimento psíquico e do surgimento de transtornos mentais. Destacam-se a população em isolamento social e quarentena, os profissionais da saúde que atuam na linha de frente no combate à COVID-19, as pessoas com transtorno mental e famílias enlutadas.
