Resumo: Objective: Search the literature for available scientific evidence on health education in the management of enteral nutrition in the elderly and the use of tube. Methodology: this is a scope review that covered 3 studies, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. These were available in the MEDLINE/PubMed databases; Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) and Cochrane, having as descriptors the elderly, enteral nutrition and health education. Results: Of the 349 records found, 140 were excluded by exclusion criteria, and 206 were selected for reading the respective titles and abstracts. 195 publications were excluded because they did not meet the inclusion criteria, and 11 works were pre-selected for full reading, which, after this stage, resulted in a result of 3 studies. Conclusion: In view of the findings, it is observed that health education improves the management of enteral nutrition, providing positive results such as restriction of colonization of multidrug-resistant microorganisms, reduction of the occurrence of complications from the use of the tube, reduction of medical expenses, prevention of new hospitalizations, reduction in caloric deficit, duration of mechanical ventilation and length of stay in the ICU. More studies are needed to assess which educational strategies are most effective and, thus, contribute to improving the care and care of the elderly using tubes for enteral nutrition.

Research, Society and Development2022-07-03info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/3103510.33448/rsd-v11i9.31035Research, Society and Development; Vol. 11 No. 9; e9211931035Research, Society and Development; Vol. 11 Núm. 9; e9211931035Research, Society and Development; v. 11 n. 9; e92119310352525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/31035/26935Copyright (c) 2022 Gina Araújo Martins Feitosa; Fernanda de Medeiros Nóbrega; Susanne Pinheiro Costa e Silva; Fabiana Maria Rodrigues Lopes de Oliveira; Keylla Talitha Fernandes Barbosahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessFeitosa, Gina Araújo MartinsNóbrega, Fernanda de MedeirosSilva, Susanne Pinheiro Costa eOliveira, Fabiana Maria Rodrigues Lopes deBarbosa, Keylla Talitha Fernandes2022-07-21T12:36:16Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/31035Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:47:32.925003Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
