Sustainability Competencies: analysis in a Financial Institution

Resumo: This paper addresses the theme of competencies for sustainability when considering the concern with sustainability in the business environment under the social, environmental and economic perspectives. We investigate competences in the context of sustainability, considering the competence of systemic thinking; the competence of anticipation; normative competence; strategic competence and interpersonal competence in a financial institution. The main objective was to analyze the strategies and competencies focused on the organizational sustainability of Banco Alfa in the State of Paraná. This is a descriptive research, with a quantitative approach and a single case study. The survey was made available through the SurveyMonkey® online survey platform for the 8,636 employees of the State of Paraná, resulting in 1,042 valid effective respondents. Interviews were conducted with 4 bank unit managers as a way of supporting quantitative data, besides the documentary analysis. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between the time of the company, the commission and the age group. The study contributed in practice, because it was possible to understand how the competencies for sustainability are perceived by the employees and managers of the financial institution and the strategic actions that could be developed for this.

Se investigan las competencias en el contexto de la sostenibilidad, considerando la competencia del pensamiento sistémico; la competencia de anticipación; competencia regulatoria; Competencia estratégica y competencia interpersonal en una institución financiera. El objetivo principal fue analizar las estrategias y competencias centradas en la sostenibilidad organizativa de Banco Alfa en el estado de Paraná. Esta es una investigación descriptiva, con un enfoque cuantitativo y un solo estudio de caso. La encuesta se puso a disposición a través de la Plataforma de encuestas en línea SurveyMonkey® para los 8,636 empleados del Estado de Paraná, lo que dio como resultado 1,042 encuestados válidos y efectivos. Se realizaron entrevistas con 4 gerentes de las unidades del banco como una forma de apoyar los datos cuantitativos, además del análisis documental. Los resultados mostraron que existe una relación significativa entre el momento de la empresa, la comisión y el grupo de edad. El estudio contribuyó en la práctica, porque fue posible comprender cómo los empleados y gerentes de la institución financiera perciben las competencias para la sostenibilidad y las acciones estratégicas que podrían desarrollarse para esto.Esse trabalho aborda o tema competências para sustentabilidade ao considerar a preocupação com a sustentabilidade no ambiente empresarial sob as perspectivas social, ambiental e econômica. Investiga-se às competências no contexto da sustentabilidade, considerando-se a competência de pensamento sistêmico; a competência de antecipação; competência normativa; competência estratégica e a competência interpessoal, em uma instituição financeira. O objetivo principal foi analisar as estratégias e competências com foco na sustentabilidade organizacional do Banco Alfa no Estado do Paraná. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, com abordagem quantitativa e estudo de caso único. A pesquisa foi disponibilizada por meio da Plataforma de pesquisa online SurveyMonkey®, para os 8.636 funcionários do Estado do Paraná, resultando em 1.042 respondentes efetivos válidos. Foram realizadas entrevistas com 4 gestores de unidades do banco como forma de suporte aos dados quantitativos, além da análise documental. Os resultados apontaram que existe relação significativa entre o tempo de empresa, a comissão exercida e a faixa etária.
