Hospital mortality due to ischemic stroke in the city of Bacabal - MA between 2010 and 2021: Epidemiological study

Resumo: Introduction: Ischemic stroke is one of the main cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. In Bacabal – MA city, stroke also has a significant impact on Public Health, which urges the needed for preventive actions in the region. Aimes: analyze hospital mortality due ischemic stroke in Bacabal - MA city between 2010 and 2021, as well as to discuss the risk factors, treatment and prognosis of this pathology. Methodology: A secondary database study was carried out in PROADESS on the percentage of hospital deaths among hospitalizations of patients aged 45 years or older with a length of stay of up to 30 days, due to ischemic stroke, per 100 hospitalizations, by occurrence place, between 2010 and 2021. Results: The analysis revealed trends with obvious variations in mortality over these years. Demographic characteristics, such as the most susceptible age group, and comorbidities were frequently associated with fatal outcomes, as well as limitations in treatment and prognosis. Conclusion: understanding the problem in Bacabal - MA, as a basis for targeted Public Health strategies, can help in the allocation of medical resources and the implementation of preventive measures.

En el municipio de Bacabal - MA, el ictus también tiene un importante impacto en la Salud Pública, lo que exige intervenciones preventivas en la región. Objetivos: analizar la mortalidad hospitalaria por accidente cerebrovascular isquémico en la ciudad de Bacabal - MA entre 2010 y 2021, así como discutir los factores de riesgo, tratamiento y pronóstico de esta patología. Metodología: Se realizó un estudio de base de datos secundaria en PROADESS sobre el porcentaje de muertes hospitalarias entre las hospitalizaciones de pacientes de 45 años y más con estancia de hasta 30 días, por accidente cerebrovascular isquémico, por cada 100 hospitalizaciones, según lugar de ocurrencia. entre 2010 y 2021. Resultados: El análisis reveló tendencias con claras variaciones en la mortalidad a lo largo de estos años. Las características demográficas, como el grupo de edad más susceptible y las comorbilidades, se asociaron frecuentemente con desenlaces mortales, así como con limitaciones en el tratamiento y el pronóstico. Conclusión: comprender el problema en Bacabal - MA, como forma de apoyar estrategias de Salud Pública focalizadas, puede ayudar en la asignación de recursos médicos y la implementación de medidas preventivas.Introdução: O acidente vascular cerebral (AVC) isquêmico é uma das principais causas de morbidade e mortalidade em todo o mundo. No município de Bacabal - MA, o AVC também possui impacto significativo na Saúde Pública, o que urge a necessidade de intervenções preventivas na região. Objetivos: analisar a mortalidade hospitalar por AVC isquêmico no município de Bacabal - MA entre 2010 e 2021, bem como discutir os fatores de risco, tratamento e prognóstico desta patologia. Metodologia: Foi realizado um estudo de base de dados secundários no PROADESS sobre o percentual de óbitos hospitalares entre internações de pacientes com 45 anos ou mais com tempo de permanência de até 30 dias, por AVC isquêmico, por 100 internações, por local de ocorrência, entre 2010 e 2021. Resultados: A análise revelou tendências com variações evidentes de mortalidade ao longo desses anos. Características demográficas, como faixa etária mais suscetível, e comorbidades frequentemente estiveram associadas a desfechos fatais, bem como as limitações no tratamento e do prognóstico.
