Resumo: | Introduction: Overweight rates have increased significantly since 1975 among children and adolescents, with this obesity has become a public health problem due to the high risk of complications associated with excess body fat, being a risk factor for the development of obesity. noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Objective: To analyze the food and biochemical consumption of obese patients admitted to a cardiology referral hospital in the State of Pará, Brazil. Methodology: An inductive, descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out at Fundação Hospital de Clínicas Gaspar Vianna (FHCGV), located in Belém do Pará, from April to June 2022. The variables studied were life habits, comorbidities, biochemistry and food frequency (FFQ). Results: The study involved 26 patients, in which it was observed that the participants have chronic non-communicable diseases such as: hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and dyspnea. According to the FFQ, the most consumed foods are bread, rice, flour, milk and sugar. Discussion: Among the main risk factors for obesity are: high intake of processed foods rich in sodium and sugars, along with a sedentary lifestyle. The mentioned factors can result in serious consequences such as the development of NCDs, dyslipidemias and hypertension. Conclusion: Inadequate diet and sedentary lifestyle can be factors that influence the alteration of laboratory tests, due to a high consumption of processed and ultra-processed foods, considered at risk for the development of complications related to overweight and physical inactivity. |
