Teaching in Production Engineering based on the development of skills and competences

Resumo: The project here presented aims to discuss the context of emergency and development of the Production Engineering in academic environments in Brazil and South Korea. The comparison makes sense taking into account that both countries started their Science and Technology policies from similar points, back in the 1960s and 1970s decades. However, the way these trajectories differ can be understood by the way each country invested in Applied Science training, such as Industrial Engineering. Starting by the comparison of undergraduate programs from both countries, using multivariate statistics, it is possible to discuss how the Industrial Engineering is thought and developed, the main issues related to curriculum innovation and how each environment differ in terms of engineering profession.

La comparación se justifica en la medida en que ambos países iniciaron sus políticas de Ciencia y Tecnología a partir de orígenes comunes, que se remontan a las décadas de 1960 y 1970. Sin embargo, las trayectorias de desarrollo bastante dispares de estos países pueden ser comprendidas por el modo en que invirtieron en la formación en ciencias aplicadas, tales como la Ingeniería de Producción. A partir de la comparación de los cursos de esta área en ambos países, utilizando estadística multivariada, es posible discutir los rumbos que han seguido la formación en Ingeniería de Producción, las barreras a la innovación curricular y los diferenciales de cada contexto, además del modo como estos afectan en la profesión de ingeniero.O presente trabalho tem por objetivo problematizar o contexto de emergência e desenvolvimento da Engenharia de produção nos ambientes acadêmicos do Brasil e da Coréia do Sul. A comparação se justifica na medida em que ambos os países deram início a suas políticas de Ciência e Tecnologia a partir de origens comuns, que remontam às décadas de 1960 e 1970. Contudo, as trajetórias de desenvolvimento bastante díspares destes países podem ser compreendidas pelo modo como investiram na formação em ciências aplicadas, tais como a Engenharia de Produção.
