Analyses of the concepts of genotype and phenotype in course books from 1950 to nowadays

Resumo: With the progresses made in the field of genetics in interactions with other areas of research such as physiology, behavior analyses, among others, the concepts of genotype and phenotype are in constant transformation. The goal of this research was to highlight how the concepts of genotype and phenotype were presented in biology textbooks from 1950 to 2013. To do so, we proceeded an analyses of contends, bases upon categorization, from the decade of 1950 to the year of 2013. The concepts were analyzed taking in account the epoch in which the course books were edited. This research justifies itself by the need of evaluating the concepts presented in course books. The results show us that the concepts of genotype and phenotype presented in the course books did not follow the understanding of them by the scientific community of each epoch. There were evidences that generally occurs a longing of time between the didactic transposition of the contends and the scientific knowledge development. One can understand that part of this lack of time is acceptable once it is very difficult to edict course books as fast as or immediately as the scientific researches are developed. However authors and editors must be aware of the need to update such concepts and take care about letting decades of distance between the presented concepts in course books and their real and acceptable understanding by the scientific community.

El objetivo de esta investigación, consiste en analizar como los conceptos de genotipo y fenotipo  fueron presentados en libros didácticos de biología de 1950 a 2013. Para eso, realizamos un análisis de contenido, basado en categorización, de la década de 1950 a 2013. Los conceptos fueron investigados respetando la época de edición de los libros en que estaban presentes. Esa investigación está justificada por la necesidad de evaluar como los conceptos de genotipo y fenotipo presentes en los respectivos libros no acompañaban la comprensión de la comunidad científica de cada época. Generalmente ocurre el retraso de la transposición didáctica en relación al desenvolvimiento del conocimiento científico. Se entiende, así, que parte de ese retraso es aceptable, puesto que es muy difícil que los libros didácticos sean editados en el momento del desenvolvimiento de las investigaciones científicas, Entre tanto, los autores y editores necesitan preocuparse con las actualizaciones de esos conceptos y cuidar para que no haya un distanciamiento  de décadas entre los conceptos presentados en los libros con relación a las comprensiones aceptadas por la comunidad científica.Com os avanços da genética, em interação com outras áreas de pesquisa, como a fisiologia, a análise comportamental, entre outras, os conceitos de genótipo e fenótipo estão em constante transformação. Nesse contexto, o objetivo desta pesquisa consiste em analisar como os conceitos de genótipo e fenótipo foram apresentados nos livros didáticos de Biologia de 1950 a 2013. Para isso, realizou-se uma análise de conteúdo, baseada em categorização, da década de 1950 a 2013, em que os conceitos foram analisados respeitando-se a época de edição dos livros em que estavam presentes. Dessa forma, esta pesquisa justifica-se pela necessidade de avaliar como os conceitos estão apresentados nos livros didáticos. Os resultados evidenciam que os conceitos de genótipo e fenótipo presentes nos respectivos livros não acompanhavam a compreensão da comunidade científica de cada época, e que, geralmente, ocorre a demora da transposição didática em relação ao desenvolvimento do conhecimento científico. Assim, entende-se que parte dessa demora é aceitável, pois é muito difícil os livros didáticos serem editados no momento imediato do desenvolvimento das pesquisas científicas.
