Resumo: Sepsis is considered to be one of the most fatal diseases worldwide. It is a disease of high morbidity and mortality, which treatment involves high costs and demands a service of excellence in the emergency and intensive care units. Objective: describe the nursing care in the detection of signs and symptoms of sepsis. Methodology: The study was designed through a bibliographical review using studies of the last ten years. A search was performed in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) in 2019, as well as in the databases: Bireme, Lilacs and Scielo, with the following descriptors: "sepsis", "nursing care", "intensive care". Results: The national scenario pointed out that patients with sepsis or septic shock, causing 55% of these patients to die, occupy approximately 30% of ICU beds in Brazil. Conclusion: The nursing professional works by offering all the necessary support, using their scientific knowledge so that the care is individualized and directed to the real needs of the individual.

Es una enfermedad de alta morbilidad, cuyo tratamiento implica altos costos y exige servicio de excelencia en unidades de emergencia y terapia intensiva. Objetivo: describir atención de enfermería en detección de signos y síntomas de sepsis. Metodología: el estudio se diseñó a través de revisión bibliográfica utilizando obras de los últimos diez años. Se realizó una búsqueda en la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS) en 2019, así como en bases de datos: Bireme, Lilacs y Scielo, con los siguientes descriptores: "sepsis", "cuidados de enfermería", "cuidados intensivos". Resultado: el escenario nacional señaló que aproximadamente el 30% de las camas de la UCI brasileña están ocupadas por pacientes con sepsis o shock séptico, lo que lleva al 55% de estos pacientes a la muerte. Conclusiones: el profesional de enfermería trabaja ofreciendo todo el apoyo necesario, utilizando su conocimiento científico para que la atención se individualiza y se centre en las necesidades reales del individuo.A sepse é considerada uma das doenças mais fatais encontradas em todo o mundo. É uma doença de alta morbimortalidade, cujo tratamento envolve altos custos e demanda atendimento de excelência nas unidades de emergência e terapia intensiva. Objetivo: descrever os cuidados de enfermagem na detecção dos sinais e sintomas da sepse. Metodologia: o estudo foi desenhado através de uma revisão bibliográfica utilizando obras dos últimos dez anos. Foi realizada busca na Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde (BVS) em 2019, como também nas bases: Bireme, Lilacs e Scielo, com os seguintes descritores: “sepse”, “cuidados de enfermagem”, “terapia intensiva”. Resultados: o cenário nacional apontou que aproximadamente 30% dos leitos de UTI do Brasil estão ocupados por pacientes com sepse ou choque séptico, levando 55% desses pacientes a óbito.
