Distance education and dropout in higher education in the Amazon context: a literature review study

Resumo: | Distance Education (EaD) consolidates itself as the alternative to democratize access to higher education in Brazil and specifically in the northern region, this path has been a reference for educational continuation, but with the adversities of evasion. Given this, we aim in this literature review to describe the probable causes for the evasion of students in distance education in higher education in the Amazon context, factors that can interfere with access, permanence and learning of students. As methodological procedures, we opted for bibliographic research with a qualitative approach, using databases such as Scielo and Google Scholar between the years 2010 to 2019. The results revealed several probable causes that lead EaD students to evade, among the most present are connected social, economic and institutional issues. We consider that, according to our findings and due to the growth of distance education, the difficulties of studying at a distance are undeniable, however, institutions and their teaching-learning spaces need to use resources and instruments that motivate and assist students in their specificities. in the Amazon context. |

Por lo tanto, nuestro objetivo en esta revisión de la literatura es identificar las causas probables de la evasión de estudiantes de educación a distancia en educación superior en el contexto amazónico, factores que pueden interferir en el acceso, permanencia y aprendizaje de los estudiantes. Como procedimientos metodológicos se optó por la investigación bibliográfica con enfoque cualitativo, utilizando bases de datos como Scielo y Google Scholar entre los años 2010 a 2019. Los resultados revelaron varias causas probables que llevan a los estudiantes de EaD a desistir, entre las más presentes se encuentran las cuestiones sociales, económicas e institucionales conectadas. Consideramos que, de acuerdo con nuestros hallazgos y debido al crecimiento de la educación a distancia, las dificultades de estudiar a distancia son innegables, sin embargo, las instituciones y sus espacios de enseñanza-aprendizaje necesitan utilizar recursos e instrumentos que motiven y asistan a los estudiantes en sus especificidades en el contexto de la Amazonía.A Educação a Distância (EaD) se consolida como a alternativa de democratização do acesso ao ensino superior no Brasil e especificamente na região norte esse caminho tem sido referência para a continuação educacional, mas com as adversidades da evasão. Diante disso, temos como objetivo nessa revisão de literatura identificar as prováveis causas para a evasão de estudantes na modalidade EaD no ensino superior no contexto Amazônico, fatores estes que podem interferir no acesso, permanência e aprendizado dos alunos. Como procedimentos metodológicos optamos pela pesquisa bibliográfica com abordagem qualitativa, com a utilização das bases de dados como Scielo e Google Acadêmico entre os anos de 2010 a 2019. Os resultados revelaram que as fatores relacionados as principais causas da evasão na EaD estão conectadas as questões sociais, econômicas e institucionais.
