Teaching and Practice in an Adult ICU: Experiences in a Nursing Internship Environment

Resumo: Objective: The purpose of this study is to present the experiences of undergraduate nursing students during the practices developed in the HS in a university hospital in the capital Manaus-AM. Methodology: This study refers to an experience report, about the experiences of undergraduate nursing students of the Institute of Health and Biotechnology (ISB) of the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), during the course of the Supervised Curricular Internship (SCS) I. The same was developed in a University Hospital of high complexity in the adult ICU sector, in the period from November 18 to 20, 2019.  Results: The ESC in an adult ICU was of paramount importance for the teaching and learning of the nursing course students, where they had the opportunity to know the structure of the unit and even apply direct health care assistance to patients such as: cephalo caudal physical examination, installation of cushions, verification of vital signs, annotation and patient evolution. The experience acquired in this hospital environment has contributed significantly to the professional training of nurses. Final Considerations: The ECS is indispensable in the academic trajectory, since it allows contact with large hospital structures that have an ICU, where students have the opportunity to employ, in practice, the theory acquired in the classroom and, simultaneously, adding new knowledge.

Metodología: El presente estudio se refiere a un relato de experiencia, acerca de las vivencias de los discentes de graduación en enfermería del Instituto de Salud y Biotecnología (ISB) de la Universidad Federal de Amazonas (UFAM), en el marco de la disciplina Estagio Curricular Supervisado (ESC) I. La misma se desarrolló en un Hospital Universitario de alta complejidad en el sector de UCI de adultos, en el período comprendido entre el 18 y el 20 de noviembre de 2019.  Resultados: La ESC en una UCI de adultos fue de suma importancia para la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de los alumnos del curso de enfermería, donde tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer la estructura de la unidad e incluso aplicar cuidados sanitarios directos a los pacientes como: examen físico céfalo caudal, colocación de cojines, verificación de signos vitales, anotación y evolución del paciente. La experiencia adquirida en este entorno hospitalario contribuyó de forma significativa a la formación profesional de las enfermeras. Consideraciones finales: El ECS es esencial en la carrera académica, porque permite el contacto con grandes estructuras hospitalarias que cuentan con una UCI, donde los estudiantes tienen la oportunidad de aplicar, en la práctica, la teoría adquirida en el aula y, simultáneamente, añadir nuevos conocimientos.Objetivo: O propósito do estudo é apresentar as experiências vivenciadas por discentes graduandos no curso de enfermagem no decorrer das práticas desenvolvidas no ECS em um hospital universitário na capital Manaus-AM. Metodologia: O presente estudo refere-se a um relato de experiência, acerca das vivências de discentes de graduação em enfermagem do Instituto de Saúde e Biotecnologia (ISB) da Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM), no decorrer da disciplina Estagio Curricular Supervisionado (ESC) I. O mesmo desenvolveu-se em um Hospital Universitário de alta complexidade no setor de UTI adulto, no período de 18 a 20 de novembro de 2019.  Resultados: O ECS numa UTI adulta foi de suma importância para o ensino e aprendizagem dos discentes do curso de enfermagem, onde os mesmos tiveram a oportunidade de conhecer a estrutura da unidade e até mesmo aplicar a assistência em saúde direta aos pacientes tais como: exame físico céfalo caudal, instalação de coxins, verificação de sinais vitais, anotação e evolução do paciente. A experiência adquirida neste ambiente hospitalar contribuiu de forma significativa para a formação profissional do enfermeiro.
