Environmental Education at Private Higher Education Institutions in São Paulo State

Resumo: | Environmental Education is an educational process aimed at awakening individual and collective concerns in the general public about environmental issues. It should provide clear and objective access to information and contribute to the development of a critical awareness of today's environmental problems. The purpose of this article is to map the undergraduate courses in Environmental Education in Private Higher Education Institutions in São Paulo State. This has involved a survey and in-depth analysis of the curriculum of 12 institutions, totaling 593 courses, covering the different areas of knowledge and types of degree. Of the courses analyzed, 36.4% contained subjects related to Environmental Education. The analysis of types of degree indicated that Environmental Education is more often included in Teaching Diploma ("Licenciatura") courses (58.7%), while in the BA degree and Short Courses the percentage was 33.8%. This is an interesting and very important fact, since the Teaching Diploma trains people who are going to disseminate knowledge and ideas in schools. |

Debe permitir el acceso a la información de manera clara y objetiva y contribuir al desarrollo de una conciencia crítica en relación con los problemas ambientales contemporáneos. Este artículo tuvo como objetivo mapear la Educación Ambiental en cursos de Graduación en Instituciones de Educación Superior Privadas en el Estado de São Paulo. Para ello, se llevó a cabo una investigación y análisis exhaustivo en los Planes de Estudios en 12 instituciones, con un total de 593 cursos, que abarcan las diversas áreas de conocimiento y modalidades. Se observó que el 36.4% de los cursos analizados contenían asignaturas con el tema de Educación Ambiental. Cuando se analizó por modalidades, se observó que la Educación Ambiental tiene una mayor representatividad entre los cursos de Licenciatura (58.7%). Entre los cursos de Bachiller y Corta Duración, este valor fue del 33,8%; dato interesante y muy importantes, porque en los cursos de Licenciatura, los profesionales están capacitados para difundir conocimiento e ideas en espacios escolares.A Educação Ambiental é um processo educacional no qual se objetiva despertar na sociedade a preocupação individual e coletiva para questões ambientais. Deve possibilitar o acesso à informação de forma clara e objetiva e contribuir com o desenvolvimento de uma consciência crítica em relação aos problemas ambientais contemporâneos. Este artigo teve como objetivo realizar um mapeamento da Educação Ambiental em cursos de Graduação em Instituições de Ensino Superior Privadas do Estado de São Paulo. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa e análise minuciosa nas Grades Curriculares em 12 instituições, totalizando 593 cursos, englobando as diversas áreas do conhecimento e modalidades. Observou-se que 36,4% dos cursos analisados continham disciplinas com a temática Educação Ambiental. Quando se analisou por modalidades, percebeu-se que a Educação Ambiental possui uma maior representatividade entre os cursos de Licenciatura (58,7%).
