Teaching astronomy to Fundamental Education students: an investigation on the Universe

Resumo: | The article consists of a report of teaching experience about the elaboration and application of a didactic proposal for the teaching of Astronomy to students of sixth year of elementary school. the activities were developed by students of the "Conhecendo a Escola" project of UFPR’s Licenciar program. This proposal comprises eleven classes and is attended by eighteen students. Its objectives were: to provide an understanding of the basic concepts related to astronomy; analyze how didactic actions carried out in the course of the pedagogical workshops carried out during the application of the pre-test and in the post-test and investigate the previous knowledge that the students about this theme. The themes are: the solar system; the movements of rotation, translation and revolution carried out by the Earth and the Moon; the formation of the seasons and eclipses. The pedagogical workshops were the object of analysis of the theoretical-practical experiences, based on the social interaction between the teacher, students and didactic resources: videos, slides and simulators, making scale models of the solar system, elaboration of a game and experiments. As a theoretical framework, we used the Theory of Meaningful Learning, the Three Pedagogical Moments and Peer Instruction. Regarding the results obtained, we verified that students have a high percentage of correct answers in the post-test questions, which are composed of questions from the Brazilian Astronomy Olympics (BAO). Finally, as a final result, it considers that the theoretical pillars and the proposed sequence of activities were efficient to teaching and learning process of basic concepts of astronomy. |

Esta propuesta consta de once clases y contó con la participación de dieciocho estudiantes, con los siguientes objetivos: proporcionar una comprensión básica de los conceptos relacionados con la astronomía; analizar las acciones didácticas realizadas en el transcurso de los talleres pedagógicos realizados durante la aplicación del pre-test y en el post-test y indagar en los conocimientos previos que tenían los estudiantes sobre el universo y las estrellas que lo componen. Los temas tratados son: el sistema solar; los movimientos de rotación, traslación y revolución realizados por la Tierra y la Luna; la formación de las estaciones y los eclipses. Los talleres pedagógicos fueron objeto de análisis de las experiencias teórico-prácticas, a partir de la interacción social entre docente, alumnos y recursos didácticos: videos, diapositivas y simuladores, elaboración de maquetas del sistema solar, elaboración de un juego y experimentos. Como marco teórico, utilizamos la Teoría del Aprendizaje Significativo, los Tres Momentos Pedagógicos y la Instrucción de los compañeros de clase. En cuanto a los resultados obtenidos, destacamos que los estudiantes tuvieron altos porcentajes de respuestas correctas en las preguntas del pos-test, estando estas integradas por preguntas de la Olimpiada Brasileña de Astronomía (OBA). Finalmente, como resultado final, consideramos que los pilares teóricos y la secuencia de actividades propuesta fueron adecuados para el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje de los conceptos básicos de la astronomía.O artigo constitui-se de um relato de experiência docente acerca da elaboração e aplicação de uma proposta didática para o ensino de Astronomia, no âmbito do projeto “Conhecendo a Escola” do programa Licenciar da UFPR, com alunos do sexto ano do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola pública. Esta proposta compreende onze aulas e contou com a presença de dezoito alunos, com os seguintes objetivos: proporcionar a compreensão básica de conceitos relacionados à astronomia; analisar as ações didáticas realizadas no percurso das oficinas pedagógicas realizadas durante a aplicação do pré-teste e no pós-teste e investigar os conhecimentos prévios dos alunos sobre o universo e os astros que o compõe. Os tópicos abordados são: o sistema solar; os movimentos de rotação, translação e revolução realizados pela Terra e pela Lua; a formação das estações do ano e dos eclipses. As oficinas pedagógicas constituíram objeto de análise das experiências teórico-práticas, a partir da interação social entre o professor, alunos e os recursos didáticos: vídeos, slides e simuladores, confecção de maquetes em escala do sistema solar, elaboração de um jogo e experimentos. Como referencial teórico, utilizamo-nos da Teoria da Aprendizagem Significativa, os Três Momentos Pedagógicos e a Instrução pelos colegas. Com relação aos resultados obtidos, destacamos que os alunos tiveram elevados percentuais de acertos nas questões do pós teste, sendo estas compostas por questões das Olimpíada Brasileira de Astronomia (OBA).
