The Environmental Education approach in the Pedagogical Project of a Natural Science degree Course

Resumo: The consolidation of Environmental Education (EE) in formal teaching processes presupposes its insertion in all educational levels, including higher education. In this context and aiming to understand EE in a process of the teachers education, aims to analyze the Pedagogical Project of the Course in Natural Sciences of Federal University of Pampa (Unipampa), seeking to verify how the terms “Environmental”, “Sustainability”, “Cross-cutting Themes” and “Interdisciplinarity”, are addressed. Based on the documental analysis, the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the environmental related citations in the PPC were discussed, as this document is one of the main tools of curriculum development. After quantitative data collecting, qualitative questions were verified, that is, how these terms are inserted in the document and curriculum subjects, through content categorising analysis. As a result of this study, it can be inferred that there are large differences in the quantity and quality of citations on environmental issues in general, without a certain epistemological current for Environmental Education being detected. The analysis also reveals that the PPC was prepared more than seven years ago, which demonstrates a need for updating in the view of the changes in the educational guiding documents. Finally, the present study points out as pertinent to the new PPC proposal, that a dialectical relationship should be established between curriculum components and pedagogical practice, legitimizing the expected objectives for the EE in the academic college education and thus contributing to the process of strengthening the University and the region where it is inserted and in accordance with the current legislation.

En este escenario y con el objetivo de comprender la EA en el proceso de formación del profesorado se analizó el Proyecto Pedagógico del Curso (PPC) de Ciencias Naturales de la Universidad Federal del Pampa, tratando de verificar el enfoque de los términos “ambiental”, “sostenibilidad”, “temas transversales” e “interdisciplinariedad. Con base en el análisis documental, se discutieron los aspectos cuantitativos y cualitativos de las citas ambientales que conforman el PPC, siendo el principal instrumento de desarrollo curricular. Despúes de la recopilación de datos, es decir, cúal es el enfoque de la inserción de estes términos en todo el documento y en los componentes del plan de estúdios, a través del análisis de contenido por categorización. Como resultado, se puede inferir que existe una gran diferencia en la cantidad y calidad de las citas sobre el tema ambiental en general, con una cierta corriente epistemológica para EA no detectada. El análisis revela que el PPC se desarrolló hace siete años, lo que demuestra la necesidad de ajustes, considerando que en este período hubo cambios y actualizaciones en los documentos orientadores. Finalmente, el presente estudio señala como pertinente a una nueva propuesta de curso, que se establezca una relación dialéctica entre el plan de estudios y la práctica pedagógica, legitimando los objetivos previstos para la formación de egresados en materia de EA. Y de esta manera, contribuyendo al proceso de fortalecimiento de la universidad y la región donde opera, de conformidade con la legislación vigente.A consolidação da Educação Ambiental (EA) nos processos formais de ensino pressupõe sua inserção em todos os níveis educacionais, inclusive na educação superior. Nesse cenário e visando compreender a EA no processo de formação de professores, objetiva-se analisar o Projeto Pedagógico do Curso de Ciências da Natureza da Universidade Federal do Pampa, buscando verificar a forma de abordagem dos termos “Ambiental”, “Sustentabilidade”, “Temas Transversais” e “Interdisciplinaridade”. Com base na análise documental foram discutidos aspectos quali-quantitativos das citações ambientais que compõem o PPC, sendo este o principal instrumento do desenvolvimento curricular. Após coleta de dados verificou-se as questões qualitativas, ou seja, qual enfoque da inserção destes termos ao longo do documento e nos componentes curriculares, através da análise de conteúdo por categorização. Como resultado, pode-se inferir que há grandes diferenças na quantidade e qualidade das citações sobre a temática ambiental de forma geral, não sendo detectada uma determinada corrente epistemológica para a EA. A análise revela que o PPC foi elaborado há sete anos, o que demonstra uma necessidade de ajustes, tendo em vista que neste período houve mudanças e atualizações nos documentos educacionais norteadores. Por fim, o presente estudo aponta como pertinente para nova proposta de curso, que seja estabelecido uma relação dialética entre currículo e prática pedagógica, legitimando os objetivos previstos para a formação dos egressos para com a questão da EA.
