Supplier selection approach for competitive advantage

Resumo: The objective of this article is to propose a procedure for the selection of suppliers by the criterion of competitive advantage based on the model of competition fields and weapons (CAC in Portuguese) and to present the functionality of an artifact (self-instructional software) built to facilitate the realization of this task by the contracting company. This software, which is configured in a technological product, is the result of a project financially supported by National Council for Scientific and Technological Development – CNPq (Brazil) under the Productivity Scholarship in Technological Development and Innovative Extension Program and can be freely accessed at https://supplier.camposearmas.com.br. This is a new criterion that leads the company to contract the supplier that best leverages its competitive advantages. If the company intends to obtain a competitive advantage, for example, in product quality, it must contract the supplier that has the best quality in the production process. The supplier to be selected is the one whose internal competencies are most aligned with the competitive strategy of the contracting company. In the article, it is shown that the competition field and weapons model is the appropriate theoretical framework to support the proposed supplier selection process and implemented by the software.

Este software, que es un producto tecnológico, es el resultado de un proyecto apoyado financieramente por el Consejo Nacional de Desarrollo Científico y Tecnológico - CNPq (Brasil) en el marco del programa Beca de Productividad en Desarrollo Tecnológico y Extensión Innovadora y se puede acceder libremente en https://supplier.camposearmas.com.br. Este es un nuevo criterio que lleva a la empresa a contratar al proveedor que mejor aproveche sus ventajas competitivas. Si la empresa pretende obtener una ventaja competitiva, por ejemplo, en la calidad del producto, debe contratar al proveedor que tenga la mejor calidad en el proceso de producción. El proveedor a seleccionar es aquel cuyas competencias internas estén más alineadas con la estrategia competitiva del contratante. En el artículo se demuestra que el modelo de campo de competencia y armas es el marco teórico adecuado para sustentar el proceso de selección de proveedores propuesto y implementado por el software.O objetivo deste artigo é propor um procedimento para seleção de fornecedores pelo critério da vantagem competitiva fundamentado no modelo de campos e armas da competição (CAC) e apresentar a funcionalidade de um artefato (software autoinstrutivo) construído para facilitar a realização dessa tarefa pela empresa contratante. Esse software, que se configura em um produto tecnológico, é fruto de projeto apoiado financeiramente pelo Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento de Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq sob o programa de Bolsa de Produtividade em Desenvolvimento Tecnológico e Extensão Inovadora e pode ser acessado livremente em https://supplier.camposearmas.com.br. Trata-se de um novo critério que leva a empresa a contratar o fornecedor que melhor alavanque suas vantagens competitivas. Se a empresa pretender obter vantagem competitiva, por exemplo, em qualidade do produto, deve contratar o fornecedor que disponha de melhor qualidade no processo produtivo. O fornecedor a ser selecionado é aquele cujas competências internas estão mais alinhadas à estratégia competitiva do contratante.
