Profile and evolution of intensive care nurses' education as potentiators of Science

Resumo: The present study aims to investigate the professional training profile of intensive care nurses in a teaching hospital through a descriptive, exploratory study, with a quantitative methodological approach. Twenty nurses working in an intensive care unit in a teaching hospital located in the state of Rio de Janeiro participated in the study. The data were collected through a structured questionnaire, and analyzed using the statistical program Action pro®, using mean, standard deviation, absolute and relative frequency. Most nurses were not admitted sequentially to graduation and presented, in the vast majority, knowledge in the clinical area. There was also an increase in professional masters in nursing and a low investment of nurses' time in the education discipline, even working in a university education scenario, where he is responsible for the training of neophytes from different disciplines. Therefore, it is considered that nursing must prioritize different areas of interest in science, mainly to develop transdisciplinary skills, to contribute to the evolution of nursing as a science.

Veinte enfermeras que trabajan en una unidad de cuidados intensivos en un hospital universitario ubicado en el estado de Río de Janeiro participaron en el estudio. Los datos se recopilaron mediante un cuestionario estructurado y se analizaron utilizando el programa estadístico Action pro®, utilizando la media, la desviación estándar, la frecuencia absoluta y relativa. La mayoría de las enfermeras no fueron admitidas secuencialmente a la graduación y presentaron, en la gran mayoría, conocimientos en el área clínica. También hubo un aumento en la maestría profesional en enfermería y una baja inversión del tiempo de las enfermeras en la disciplina educativa, incluso trabajando en un escenario de educación universitaria, donde es responsable de la formación de neófitos de diferentes disciplinas. Por lo tanto, se considera que la enfermería debe priorizar diferentes áreas de interés en la ciencia, principalmente para desarrollar habilidades transdisciplinarias, para contribuir a la evolución de la enfermería como ciencia.O presente estudo tem objetivo de investigar o perfil de formação profissional de enfermeiros intensivistas em um hospital de ensino por meio de um estudo descritivo, exploratório, com abordagem metodológica quantitativa. Participaram do estudo 20 enfermeiros atuantes em uma unidade de terapia intensiva, em um hospital de ensino localizado no estado do Rio de Janeiro. Os dados foram coletados por meio de um questionário estruturado, e analisados a partir do programa estatístico Action pro®, empregando-se média, desvio padrão, frequência absoluta e relativa. A maioria dos enfermeiros não foram admitidos sequencialmente a conclusão da graduação e apresentavam, em sua grande maioria, conhecimento na área clínica. Observou-se também o incremento de mestres profissionais em enfermagem e baixo investimento de tempo dos enfermeiros na disciplina de educação, mesmo atuando em um cenário de educação universitária, onde é responsável pela formação de neófitos de diferentes disciplinas.
