Soil teaching: a perspective of extension practices in raising awareness in environmental education in Maciço de Baturité,CE

Resumo: Theorizing about the “soil” theme transmutes from the perspective of each individual and the use that is made of it. The approach to environmental education started in the middle of the 20th century, precisely in the 1990s, related to the awakening of the rational use of the soil with its management and conservation. In Brazil, the “Education in soils” projects started in the 19th century, with the same objective. The National Curriculum Parameters (PCNs) bring the solo theme inserted in elementary and high school, both in the disciplines of Science, Geography, and Biology. We tried to verify what elementary and high school students from public and private schools know about soil in schools in Ceará, more precisely in Maciço de Baturité. The application of questionnaires in the cities of Pacoti, Redenção, Baturité based in Ceará and with a sample of 60 students in all, served as the basis for the study. We realize that students' knowledge does not differ much from popular empirical knowledge about soil, even though they have learned about the topic at school, even if only a little. In this sense, we emphasize the importance of Education in Soils so that it is not only seen for economic purposes, in terms of fertility and management, but also as an element of the environment and the maintenance of life.

El enfoque de la educación ambiental comenzó a mediados del siglo XX, precisamente en la década de 1990, relacionado con el despertar del uso racional del suelo con su manejo y conservación. En Brasil, los proyectos Educação em Solos comenzaron en el siglo XIX, con el mismo objetivo. Los Parámetros Curriculares Nacionales (PCN) traen el tema en solitario insertado en la escuela primaria y secundaria, tanto en las disciplinas de Ciencia, Geografía y Biología. Tratamos de verificar lo que los estudiantes de primaria y secundaria de las escuelas públicas y privadas saben sobre el suelo en las escuelas de Ceará, más precisamente en Maciço de Baturité. La aplicación de cuestionarios en las ciudades de Pacoti, Redenção y Baturité, con sede en Ceará y con una muestra de 60 estudiantes en total, sirvió de base para el estudio. Nos damos cuenta de que el conocimiento de los estudiantes no difiere mucho del conocimiento empírico popular sobre el suelo, a pesar de que han aprendido sobre el tema en la escuela, aunque sea un poco. En este sentido, enfatizamos la importancia de la educación en los suelos para que no solo se vean con fines económicos, en términos de fertilidad y manejo, sino también como un elemento del medio ambiente y el mantenimiento de la vida.A teorização acerca da temática solo transmuta na perspectiva de cada indivíduo e do uso que se faz dele. A abordagem na educação ambiental deteve início em meados do século XX, precisamente nos anos 1990 relacionado com o despertar do uso racional do solo com o seu manejo e conservação. No Brasil, os projetos Educação em Solos, tiveram início no século XIX, com o mesmo objetivo. Os Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCNs) trazem o tema solo inseridos no ensino fundamental e médio, tanto nas disciplinas de Ciência, Geografia e Biologia. O objetivo foi verificar o que os alunos do ensino fundamental e médio das redes pública e privada conhecem acerca do solo nas escolas do Ceará, mais precisamente no Maciço de Baturité. A aplicação de questionários nas cidades de Pacoti, Redenção e Baturité, sediadas no Ceará e com amostragem de 60 alunos ao todo, serviu como base para o estudo. Percebemos que o saber dos alunos não difere muito do saber popular empírico sobre o solo, mesmo tendo aprendido sobre o tema na escola.
