Resumo: | Children are increasingly getting removed from mediums that allow for the development of their many abilities, and the lack of environments that are attractive for them within the urbanspace is one of the contributing factors. The objective of this research is to discuss how public places can contribute to child development, through the use of the urban space and bigger interaction within the environment they live in, proposing the increase of the access and the occupation of public spaces. For this purpose, the used methodology was a non-systematic bibliographic review, from a perspective based on the works of Lev Vygotsky and Urie Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Theory. It was concluded that it is necessary not only that the access to these spaces be broaden, but that they be suited for children’s use in a way that stimulates their full development, providing well-being and quality of life. |

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo discutir cómo los espacios públicos pueden contribuir al desarrollo infantil, a través del uso del espacio urbano y mayor interacción en el ambiente en el que los niños viven, proponiendo la ampliación al acceso y ocupación de los espacios públicos. Para ello, la metodología utilizada fue una revisión bibliográfica no sistemática, desde la perspectiva de la teoría de Lev Vygostky y del enfoque bioecológico de Urie Bronfenbrenner. Se concluyó que se hace necesaria, además de la ampliación al acceso a estos espacios, la adecuación de los mismos a la utilización por los niños para estimular su desarrollo, proporcionando bienestar y la calidad de vida.As crianças estão cada vez mais afastadas de meios que proporcionem o desenvolvimento de diversas habilidades, sendo a escassez de ambientes atrativos a elas dentro do espaço urbano um dos fatores contribuintes. Este trabalho tem como objetivo discutir como os espaços públicos podem contribuir para o desenvolvimento infantil,através do uso do espaço urbano e maior interação no ambiente no qual as crianças vivem, propondo a ampliação ao acesso e ocupação dos espaços públicos. Para isso, a metodologia utilizada foi uma revisão bibliográfica não-sistemática, sob perspectiva da teoria de Lev Vygostky e da abordagem bioecológica de Urie Bronfenbrenner.
