Experimental investigative activities and the ability to propose hypotheses in initial teachers training

Resumo: In this work, we seek to identify the contributions of experimental investigative activities to the development of the scientific ability to propose hypotheses in undergraduate Physics and Chemistry students. We conducted a qualitative research with 20 participants of the courses of an Federal University in the North of Brazil. By a workshop with investigative experimentation in the laboratory, the students elaborated their hypotheses and carried out the experiments. Data were collected through written activities of each activity performed and interviews that were analyzed, respectively, by rubrics and Textual Discursive Analysis. We found that experimental investigative activities are a promising alternative to develop the ability to elaborate hypotheses, however the research shows that this skill needs to be worked on by activities with a longer duration.

Realizamos una investigación cualitativa con 20 participantes del curso de uma Universidad Federal en el norte de Brasil. A través de un taller con experimentación investigativa en el laboratorio, los estudiantes elaboraron sus hipótesis y llevaron a cabo los experimentos. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de actividades escritas de las actividades realizadas y entrevistas, las cuales fueron analizadas, respectivamente, por rúbricas y el Análisis Textual Discursivo. Se encontró que las actividades experimentales investigativas son una alternativa prometedora para desarrollar la capacidad de elaborar hipótesis, sin embargo la investigación muestra que esta habilidad necesita ser trabajada en actividades de mayor duración.Neste trabalho buscamos identificar as contribuições das atividades experimentais investigativas para o desenvolvimento da habilidade científica de projetar um experimento para testar uma hipótese durante a formação inicial de discentes de Licenciatura em Física e em Química. Realizamos uma pesquisa qualitativa com 20 participantes de cursos de uma Universidade Federal no Norte do Brasil. Por intermédio de uma oficina com experimentação investigativa no laboratório, os discentes elaboraram suas hipóteses e realizaram os experimentos para testá-las. Os dados foram coletados por meio de atividades escritas realizadas e entrevistas, as quais foram analisadas, respectivamente, por rubricas e pela Análise Textual Discursiva.
