Resumo: Objective: To analyze perceptions about coping with school violence from the point of view of parents/family members of students at a State school in the City of Recife. Methodology: The qualitative method was used, with data collected through interviews with a previously structured script and evaluated based on content analysis. Results: Five categories emerged from the interviewees' discourse, namely: School violence in the students' parents' imagination; reason for the occurrence of school violence; the aggression suffered and practiced by the children at school; the reflection of school violence on parents' lives and the confrontation of school violence. For the family, school violence is multifaceted and has several responsible, among them the family itself, students, faculty, among others. The interviewees cite that one of the main reasons for violence at school is the lack of domestic education, but they also did not exclude the lack of “a firm pulse on the part of the teaching staff” and still believe that working together with the family and the school can minimize the problem. Conclusion: The results showed the importance of the bond between the family and the school, and that this bond can have a great impact on combating violence in the school space.

Conclusion: The results showed the importance of the bond between the family and the school, and that this bond can have a great impact on combating violence in the school space.Objetivo: Analizar las percepciones sobre el enfrentamiento de la violencia escolar desde el punto de vista de los padres/familiares de alumnos de una escuela pública del Municipio de Recife.  Metodología: Se utilizó el método cualitativo, con datos recolectados a través de entrevistas con guión previamente estructurado y evaluados a partir del análisis de contenido.  Resultados: Del discurso de los entrevistados surgieron cinco categorías, a saber: Violencia escolar en el imaginario de los padres de los alumnos; motivo de ocurrencia de la violencia escolar; la agresión sufrida y practicada por los niños en la escuela; el reflejo de la violencia escolar en la vida de los padres y el enfrentamiento de la violencia escolar.  Para la familia, la violencia escolar es multifacética y tiene varios responsables, entre ellos la propia familia, estudiantes, docentes, entre otros.  Los entrevistados citan que uno de los principales motivos de la violencia en la escuela es la falta de educación doméstica, pero tampoco descartan la falta de “pulso firme por parte del cuerpo docente” y aún creen que el trabajo en conjunto con la familia y la escuela puede minimizar el problema.  Conclusión: Los resultados mostraron la importancia del vínculo entre la familia y la escuela, y que este vínculo puede tener un gran impacto en el combate a la violencia en el espacio escolar.Objetivo: Analisar as percepções acerca do enfrentamento da violência escolar sob o ponto de vista dos pais/familiares de alunos de uma escola Estadual da Cidade do Recife. Metodologia: Empregou-se o método qualitativo, sendo os dados coletados por meio de entrevistas com roteiro previamente estruturado e avaliados com base na análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Do discurso dos entrevistados emergiram cinco categorias, a saber: A violência escolar no imaginário dos pais dos alunos; motivo da ocorrência da violência escolar; a agressão sofrida e praticada pelos filhos na escola; o reflexo da violência escolar na vida dos pais e o enfrentamento da violência escolar. Para a família a violência escolar é multifacetária e conta com diversos responsáveis, dentre eles a própria família, os alunos, o corpo docente entre outros. Os entrevistados citam que um dos principais motivos da violência na escola é a falta de educação doméstica, mas também não excluíram a falta de “pulso firme do corpo docente” e ainda acreditam que o trabalho em conjunto da família com a escola, pode minimizar o problema.
