Possible impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on children's mental health and the role of parents in this scenario

A pandemic caused by the new coronavirus requires people to change abruptly in their daily lives around the world. With the suspension of face-to-face educational activities and the experience of social isolation, children's mental health was also affected. Thus, the objective of this study is to denote, through a narrative review of the literature, that can affect the pandemic of COVID-19 in the mental health of children, as well as the role of parents in this scenario. To survey studies on this topic, the Google academic, Pubmed and Lilacs platforms were used, 7 articles were selected and only 5 were used in the final sample. The results demonstrate an occurrence of several mental disorders in children, from psychological symptoms such as stress, anxiety and irritability. In this way, parents can use strategies to help their children deal with changes caused by social isolation. Finally, even with few published studies, check if children are influenced by changes in their routine, highlighting the fundamental importance of parents in promoting their children's mental health.
