Dietary and immunonutrient intake to improve nutritional status and immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic

Resumo: With the emergence of the new Coronavirus in 2019 and the rapid advance of the virus in a few months, the whole world was oppressed by the biggest pandemic of the 21st century. In this way, the present study aims to present nutritional recommendations to improve immunity and prevent COVID-19 diseases. The study is a systematic review, the bibliographic survey was carried out from October 2021 to April 2022. The following descriptors available in the DeCS Health Sciences descriptors were used: COVID-19, Sars Cov-2, Nutrition , Antioxidant and Immunonutrients. The Boolean operators AND and OR were used, performing different combinations/crosses in the databases. Inclusion criteria: Full online articles, cross-sectional, descriptive, quantitative, qualitative, observational, exploratory and review, in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Exclusion criteria: experience reports and case studies. As a result, it was observed that among the most relevant micronutrients during the COVID-19 pandemic were vitamin C and D, in addition to selenium, zinc, magnesium in addition to prebiotic foods, probiotics, B vitamins and omega 3. It is concluded that when administered in a healthy way, nutrients can act in strengthening the body due to the maintenance of the immune response.

De esta forma, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo presentar recomendaciones nutricionales para mejorar la inmunidad y prevenir enfermedades por COVID-19. El estudio es una revisión sistemática, el levantamiento bibliográfico se realizó de octubre de 2021 a abril de 2022. Se utilizaron los siguientes descriptores disponibles en el DeCS de Ciencias de la Salud: COVID-19, Sars Cov-2, Nutrición, Antioxidante e Inmunonutrientes. Se utilizaron los operadores booleanos AND y OR, realizando diferentes combinaciones/cruces en las bases de datos. Criterios de inclusión: Artículos completos en línea, transversales, descriptivos, cuantitativos, cualitativos, observacionales, exploratorios y de revisión, en inglés, español y portugués. Criterios de exclusión: relatos de experiencia y estudios de casos. Como resultado se observó que entre los micronutrientes más relevantes durante la pandemia del COVID-19 se encontraban la vitamina C y D, además del selenio, zinc, magnesio además de alimentos prebióticos, probióticos, vitaminas B y omega 3. Se concluye que cuando se administran de forma saludable, los nutrientes pueden actuar en el fortalecimiento del organismo debido al mantenimiento de la respuesta inmunológica.Com o surgimento do novo Coronavírus ano de 2019 e o rápido avanço do vírus em poucos meses o mundo inteiro viu-se oprimido pela maior pandemia do século XXI. Desta forma o presente estudo tem como objetivo apresentar recomendações nutricionais para melhora da imunidade e da prevenção de agravos do COVID-19. O estudo trata-se de uma revisão sistemática, o levantamento bibliográfico foi realizado no período de outubro de 2021 a abril de 2022. Foram utilizados os seguintes descritores disponíveis nos descritores em Ciências da Saúde DeCS: COVID-19, Sars Cov-2, Nutrição, Antioxidante e Inmunonutrientes. Utilizou-se os operadores booleanos AND e OR, realizando combinações/cruzamentos distintos nas bases de dados. Os critérios de inclusão: Artigos na íntegra on-line, do tipo transversal, descritivo, quantitativo, qualitativo, observacional, exploratório e de revisão, nos idiomas inglês, espanhol e português. Os critérios de exclusão: relatos de experiências e estudos de caso. Como resultado observou-se dentre os micronutrientes mais relevantes durante a pandemia de COVID-19 foram vitamina C e D, além de selênio, zinco, magnésio além de alimentos prebióticos, probióticos, vitaminas do complexo B e ômega 3.
