Cereal-based functional foods as a healthy eating alternative: a review

Resumo: In recent years, much has been said and sought about healthy eating and ways to achieve it. Cereal-based functional foods, for example, have been an interesting strategy to achieve this aimed, since the various products supplied by the market are currently described as beneficial to the consumer when inserted into a balanced diet. Until the present moment, many companies have already invested in the idea, since, when thinking about this type of proposal, it tends to dominate the market more and more, since the search for a healthier diet grows sharply in several countries around the world. Thus, this narrative literature review has aimed to address different factors that cereal-based functional foods confer health, demonstrating the need for their presence in human food, in addition to exposing the benefits linked to their consumption. Given this, different current findings were revealed in this review to demonstrate the different types of food products made from cereal that exist on the market, and their wide range of opportunities to consume them in different meals of the day, thus ensuring a healthier diet.

Los alimentos funcionales a base de cereales, por ejemplo, han sido una estrategia interesante para lograr este objetivo, ya que los diversos productos que ofrece el mercado actualmente se describen como beneficiosos para el consumidor cuando se insertan en una dieta equilibrada. Hasta el momento presente, muchas empresas ya han apostado por la idea, ya que, al pensar en este tipo de propuestas, tiende a dominar cada vez más el mercado, ya que la búsqueda de una alimentación más saludable crece con fuerza en varios países del mundo. Así, el objetivo de esta revisión bibliográfica narrativa fue abordar diferentes factores que los alimentos funcionales a base de cereales confieren salud, demostrando la necesidad de su presencia en la alimentación humana, además de exponer los beneficios ligados a su consumo. Ante ello, en esta revisión se expusieron diferentes hallazgos actuales para demostrar los diferentes tipos de productos alimenticios elaborados a base de cereales que existen en el mercado, y su amplio rango de oportunidad para consumirlos en las diferentes comidas del día, asegurando así una alimentación más saludable.Nos últimos anos, muito tem-se falado e buscado sobre uma alimentação saudável e maneiras de alcançá-la. Os alimentos funcionais à base de cereais, por exemplo, vem sendo uma estratégia interessante para que este objetivo seja alcançado, pois, os diversos produtos fornecidos pelo mercado atualmente são descritos como benéficos ao consumidor quando inseridos em uma alimentação balanceada. Até o momento atual, muitas empresas já investiram na ideia, visto que, ao se pensar neste tipo de proposta ela tende a dominar cada vez mais o mercado, pois, a busca por uma alimentação mais saudável cresce acentuadamente em diversos países do mundo. Assim, o objetivo desta revisão bibliográfica narrativa foi abordar diferentes fatores que os alimentos funcionais à base de cereais conferem a saúde, demonstrando necessidade da presença destes na alimentação humana, além de expor os benefícios atrelados ao consumo dos mesmos.
