Information technology in nursing education: an integrative literature review

Resumo: This study sought to identify in the literature the scientific evidence on the use of information and communication technologies in the teaching of undergraduate nursing. An integrative literature review was carried out between 2014 and 2018, on the basis of Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences; International Health Sciences Literature; US Nursing Database and National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health. Descriptors used: nursing, educational technology, information technology. As results, 1001 studies were found, of which 18 met the inclusion criteria, from which 3 analytical categories emerged, namely: the use of simulation in the practice of nursing education; case-based learning and technological support; and active methodologies. It was concluded that the teaching characteristics are focused on the use of technologies, which includes the student in the protagonism of his learning, so that he can make the best decisions in nursing care. The study aims to contribute to the field of nursing, with regard to the valuation of teaching in times where critical thinking includes the ability to reason and think logically, analyze, judge situations appropriately and act on a reasoned basis.

Se realizó una revisión integradora de la literatura entre 2014 y 2018, a partir de la literatura latinoamericana y caribeña en ciencias de la salud; Literatura Internacional de Ciencias de la Salud; Base de datos de enfermería de EE. UU. Y Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina Institutos Nacionales de Salud. Descriptores utilizados: enfermería, tecnología educativa, tecnología de la información. Como resultados se encontraron 1001 estudios, de los cuales 18 cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión, de los cuales surgieron 3 categorías analíticas, a saber: el uso de la simulación en la práctica de la educación en enfermería; aprendizaje basado en casos y apoyo tecnológico; y metodologías activas. Se concluyó que las características de la enseñanza están enfocadas al uso de tecnologías, lo que incluye al estudiante en el protagonismo de su aprendizaje, para que pueda tomar las mejores decisiones en el cuidado de enfermería. El estudio tiene como objetivo contribuir al campo de la enfermería, en lo que respecta a la valoración de la docencia en tiempos donde el pensamiento crítico incluye la capacidad de razonar y pensar lógicamente, analizar, juzgar adecuadamente situaciones y actuar de forma razonada.Este estudo buscou identificar na literatura as evidências científicas sobre a utilização das tecnologias da informação e comunicação no ensino da graduação em enfermagem. Foi realizada uma revisão integrativa da literatura, entre 2014 e 2018, nas bases Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde; Literatura Internacional em Ciências da Saúde; Base de Dados de Enfermagem e National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health dos EUA. Descritores utilizados: enfermagem, tecnologia educacional, tecnologia da informação. Como resultados foram encontrados 1001 estudos, dos quais 18 atenderam os critérios de inclusão, de onde emergiram 3 categorias analíticas, quais sejam: o uso da simulação na prática do ensino da enfermagem; aprendizagem baseada em casos e suporte tecnológicos; e as metodologias ativas. Concluiu-se que as características de ensino estão voltadas ao uso de tecnologias o que inclui o aluno no protagonismo de seu aprendizado, para que assim tome as melhores decisões no cuidado de Enfermagem.
