Resumo: This article is a historical and documentary research that has been developed in the Graduate Program in Professional Education (PPGEP), of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN), in the history line , historiography and memory of professional education, at E. E. Prof. Anísio Teixeira (1985-2002), in Natal-RN. The purpose of this writing is to reflect on what the institution's historical sources say in the time already announced. The search for these sources has been carried out in the school's archives, with documents such as: individual records, diplomas, school transcripts, minutes, point books, legislation and photographs. Documentary research in progress in which the value of documents and archives is perceived is extremely important for the reconstruction of the history of professional education in this researched institution and more than that for the history of education in RN.

E. Prof. Anísio Teixeira (1985-2002), en Natal-RN. El propósito de este escrito es reflexionar sobre lo que dicen las fuentes históricas de la institución en el tiempo ya anunciado. La búsqueda de estas fuentes se ha llevado a cabo en los archivos de la escuela, con documentos tales como: registros individuales, diplomas, transcripciones escolares, actas, libros de puntos, legislación y fotografías. La investigación documental en curso en la que se percibe el valor de los documentos y archivos es extremadamente importante para la reconstrucción de la historia de la educación profesional en esta institución investigada y más que eso para la historia de la educación en RN.Esse artigo trata-se de uma pesquisa histórica e documental que vem sendo desenvolvida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação Profissional (PPGEP), do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN), na linha de história, historiografia e memória da educação profissional, na E. E. Prof. Anísio Teixeira (1985-2002), em Natal-RN. O objetivo desse escrito é refletir sobre o que dizem as fontes históricas da instituição no tempo já anunciado. A busca dessas fontes tem sido realizada nos arquivos da escola, sendo encontrados documentos como: fichas individuais, diplomas, históricos escolares, atas, livros de pontos, legislações e fotografias.
